Damn - there are some really messed up people here on GDP
In all my years on the net (and I remember the days of 300 baud modems) I have never seen such petty bullshit as I have seen here on GDP.

And I used to read alt.flame just for fun.

Good lord almighty, do you REALLY think you are convincing me to vote one way or the other? Have you so lost your mind that you honestly - and I really mean this, do you honestly - think that you are persuading ANYONE with your silly posts about your candidate???

Issues are one thing, we can debate all day long and learn from each others' perspectives. But when it comes to candidates, not a damned one of you here has even had the most minute affect on my choice of a candidate (either positive or negative).

Hell, this whole forum has become an entire waste of time, because folks are convinced somehow that making wild posts about a dem candidate is gonna make people change their mind. It's like listening to folks in an insane asylum and then eventually realizing that no matter what you say, they won't change their ramblings.

Face the facts - it's down to Hillary or Obama, one of the two of them will be our candidate. Those folks in Ohio aren't reading your posts, nor are they in Texas.

In the end, we wind up with a really fucking simple choice - a democrat or republican for President. I've made my choice, even if I think our own candidates don't fully represent me (like DK, etc might) I am sure as hell not going to support some rw asshole.

I hope to god you all put the same efforts into kicking the republican nominee as you have the dem ones.

I will wait and see how much effort you put into that fight as you are now.

6. Yes, there are many here who cannot seem to grasp the concept that the next president
will be either a Republican or a Democrat. I do hope they make as big an effort in trashing McCain as they do in tearing down the Democratic candidate that they do not support. I think Republicans tend to be pragmatic and pull together in the end to support their candidate while Democrats seem to be pissy if their candidate does not win and then they threaten to take their ball and go home in a huff.

9. Did you see the article about today about the 2 brothers-in-law
one a Hillary supporter, one an Obama supporter. Got in a fight over politics and one stabbed the other.

It would be like that here if all GD:Pers got together in person. A big stab-fest!

20. Naw, just seems all rather odd to me
Issues used to be the main thing, now it seems like GDP has become the Entertainment Tonight of DU - a show you hate to watch but can't turn away from when Britney Spears and such are on :)

I sneak over here just to see the latest outrageous gossip, and then wonder...why??? Damn, can't we all just discuss things in a civil manner without bashing folks?

I have to change the channel for a sec, but will turn it back to see the latest Obama photo or people ranting about hillary hitting menopause

21. Ehhhh, I'm Just Here To Stifle Them A Bit. Can't Let Being Petty Be That Easy For Them, Without
giving them SOME pain in their side for it.

But I agree completely with what you're saying, of course. This particular forum ceased to have any real value weeks ago now. Now, I just view it as a convenient place to take out my wiseass frustrations while standing back in awe of how amazingly petty and jaw droppingly ignorant some can be. It is starting to get a tad boring though. Sighhhhhhhh.

But still: I just feel the need to not let them get away with things quite so easily. Plus, it can be so much fun sometimes to be outnumbered by a ratio of like 80 to 1! LOL

This is just a wasteground now. Hopefully, soon enough, some form of valuable and reasoned argument will return. Possibly March 5th, possibly later. But ultimately, I'm ready to rally my ass off for whoever the nominee will be.

:toast:
