Poll question: Do you hate Hillary Clinton? |
|
Edited on Mon Feb-25-08 11:58 PM by jlake
There seems to be alot of people who do. Up or down vote. Be Honest.
....and No! To all of you Obama supporters who would like to take the non-controversial position and vote "present" that is not an option!

Someone I hate is Bush/Cheney. I reserve the hatred for repugs not dems.

92. jlake flipped a coin. |
|
It landed Hillary, and he's been a supporter/hack ever since.
Fighting the good fight, he maxes out his three posts per day posting this kind of divisive drivel and avoiding any sort of relevance at all costs.
jlake also assures us 20x per day that he/she will not vote for B.O. if he is nominated, because the coin he flipped between these two carbon copies of each other landed Hillary.
I'd like to take this moment to thank jlake for his/her fine work and dedication.

74. So, by "unfit" I take it, if he's the (D) nominee you won't vote for him? Yes? No? |
|
If that's the case, you've got a lot of nerve continually bitching about the other side.
See, if Hillary wins the nomination, I'll vote for her. In a heartbeat.
Frankly, I think anyone who won't commit to voting for our nominee, whichever of these fine, non-hateful Senators it happens to be, has their head firmly up their ass. THAT is "sad".

25. No, I just haven't cared for a number of her votes |
|
She and Kerry gave tremendous anti-war speeches in October 2002, tore Bush's arguments apart in 10 different directions, represented liberal states which were opposed to invasion, and then voted for the damn IWR anyway. Clueless or calculating? Either way, I wasn't a Kerry supporter in 2004 and I'm not a Clinton supporter now.
But I don't hate her. I think she's probably a decent person in spite of her very public faults, and I think that she would certainly do far more for the lesser among us than any repub. So would Obama, though I don't support him either. I'm very picky. :)

33. Nope. I like her. I respect her. |
|
I think she's made some bad calls since she got in the Senate, particularly pertaining to the IWR. I think many of those moves were done purely out of political calculation, and bad political calculation at that. This has carried over into her campaign, which I think has been run extraordinarily poorly. I think she based much of her early campaign on trying to tell enough people, often enough, that her nomination was "inevitable". This didn't work. I'm not the only one to make this observation, in fact many Clinton-backing pundits have recently come to the same conclusion.
I think many of her supporters are hoppin' mad because they never understood that this is a primary contest, that there was no divine mandate to coronate HRC the nominee.
But I don't "hate" her. I look forward to her continuing as Senator from New York, and I will of course enthusiastically support her if she does win the nomination.
Frankly, I think a lot of the hate & venom shit-flinging around here about how "If ******* wins the nomination, I'm staying home/voting nader/writing someone else in" is done by brain dead morons, campaign operatives, concern trolls, GOP'ers or children-- and once we DO have a nominee, it will be fun to watch them all either shut the fuck up or get tombstoned because they don't understand the rules around here.

35. I am a supporter of Senator Obama. I have no real issue with her or |
|
her supporters. I do have issues with those supporters of Senator Obama, Senator Clinton, Senator mCcain and Ralph Nader (sp?) who try to drive a wedge between democrats. As a democrat I take great cheer in the wedge that is driven between Senator mCcain and members of the republican party who feel that he is too "librul". Many of those unhappy republicans will sit out November and many others have decided to vote for Senator Obama! We should welcome those particular votes with no animosity.
I really hate seeing a similar wedge being driven among us democrats...I want to see a mandate come November. A mandate from WE THE PEOPLE where we take back our government in numbers that the gods will sit up and notice! I suspect the good citizens of Tehran are thinking along similar lines. Please, my fellow DUers join me, let us work together to keep a nuke from destroying their city. THEY ARE WATCHING US IN A GREAT DEAL OF ANXIETY YA'KNOW!!! :grouphug:

Several of whom will be trolls. Or at least trolling to get a reaction from you.
That's just nothing. Not a big deal. An infantismal amount in the grand scheme of things.
For the vast majority of people, even here, it's politics it's not personal.
If it's becoming personal you should find a hobby. Visit the library. Go on a mini vacation. Spend time with your loved ones. Plant a garden. Get a pet. Do whatever it is you do when you step back, recharge your batteries and evaluate the meaning of life.

58. Is "no....not" a double negative? |
|
"I hate Hlllary", "I don't hate Hillary" would have been more simple. I have supported Obama for the last month after Edwards dropped out, but I do not hate Hillary. I wonder, if she gets the nomination and is elected would she be known as "President Hillary"? I realize that "Hillary" is an unusual name and we all know who it means, but isn't "Barack" also an unusual name. I mean, when I voted here in Wisconsin a couple of weeks ago my ballot said Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. Just wondering because I've never read a good explanation.

But at no point did I ever consider voting for her in the primaries. To me her argument about experience just means she's beholden to that many more special interests that she'll end up needing to make good on so many favors which will distract her from doing anything that will change the direction of our country. I don't think she's a bad person, she just decided to sell her soul to get here and got lost along the way.

78. Pretty good poll I'd say |
|
A much higher percentage of folks who do not hate Senator Clinton than it would appear from recent weeks on GD-P. Frankly I have always thought highly of the DU and it's membership. Way to go fellow DUers!
To all who voted "yes" and to any who would stir up trouble in the name of their candidate: I don't know what to say to you... I heard someone with a strong country western style drawl, (some might call him a good ol'boy), on the Mike Malloy show tonight say something simple and yet profound: "To all you democrats who hate senator Obama or Senator Clinton to the point of refusing to vote should that candidate get the nomination, spend a day listening to right wing radio. If that is the kind of country you want to give up your vote to vote against..."
I would add: The good citizens of Tehran would like to not get nuked. The good folks of the Middle east would not like to have a reason to unite against America because another one of their countries got invaded yet again by the American bully out to steal THEIR natural resources. Maybe a mushroom cloud over an American city might make one reflect better on priorities. (Where have I heard that before...and yet thanks to bushco, is it truer today than four-five years ago?) I am fairly confident neither Senator Obama or Senator Clinton would give the good folks of the Middle East any reason to set off that nuke at a mall in Osh Kosh...Senator mCain on the other hand...well you already know the math. THAT, "My Friends" may indeed be what is at stake. HUMAN LIVES or HATE? Well that sums it up for me. Help us defeat the next bush and the insanity before it goes even further.
This presumes that we will even make it to the next election...with all the hullabaloo, is any one keepin an eye on george the deciderer??? He just loves doin' shit when folks ain't keepin a close eye on him.

Plus - she would have a really tough time beating McCain, she's just like him on the issues. Obama won't.

Obama is also guilty, but when reacting to, um, "bad news", Hillary's reactions were not those of strength. Right down to pointing at comedy sketch shows when making some point more bizarre than even my most inane Lounge post.
Will she do the same to other world leaders?

By the way, have you read up on how a "present" vote is often used strategically in the state of Illinois? I'm not looking to excuse Obama on every issue. For example, the McClurkin thing pisses me off. Still, before deciding to support him, I was concerned about those present votes so I did some reading. Obama's record is NOT perfect. I think he has made some decisions with a his electability in mind. But, I don't think the present votes were mere acts of laziness or lack of leadership qualities. Just my opinion, of course.

with one caveat. I do not like her pandering to the right on non-issues like flag burning, and video game violence, when there are actual people dying in the real world ( Iraq; War on drugs etc...) and the protection of freedom of speech must always begin with what you find in poor taste or outright offensive.
