Can I just say how great it is that Obama's responding immediately,
personally and directly to these dumbass jabs from McCain? I do hope McCain continues to underestimate Obama, and I hope McCain continues to run on his (McCain's) enthusiasm for a war that a big majority of Americans want nothing to do with. It just makes Obama's coat-tails that much broader when he wins.

5. When he responds to Clinton's attacks he's whining and showing his soft underbelly
That's what the Clinton people were saying on Monday after the "dressed" photo showed up. I thought that quick, punchy responses were what we were supposed to do.

People were talking about him needing "tougher skin". John Kerry had really thick skin. Ass of a rhino. He didn't let those swift boat attacks bother him at all. He rose above it, blew them off and lost an election.

It must suck to be McCain right now. You've got the lobbyist scandal, the FEC thing to worry about, a groundswell of support for a charismatic young BLACK guy who is smarter, better looking and lightyears more engaging than you, a country that in poll after poll thinks the Republican-approved status quo is a fast train to disaster, looming financial calamity, a party that's known mostly for ineptitude, corruption and sexual depravity, a war everybody hates (but that you're married to), and an almost universal lack of support from the fundie base your party's depended on to get within stealing distance of the last two elections. Plus, that fucking Huckabee guy just won't go away. Plus, there's that goddamn picture of you hugging Bush with one hand and unzipping his fly with the other.

32. Kerry hit back every attack Bush made on him - why do you think he didn't?
BTW - Can you name ONE lawmaker in DC who risked their career and their life MORE than Kerry did, not just in a warzone, but during his uncovering of IranContra, BCCI and CIA drugrunning operations? How many would even stick out a 5 1/2 year investigation like BCCI with all of official DC lined up against them?

I think you know very little about the man you attempted to mock, just because you believe corpmedia smears.

It seems McCain scored in this, Obama cannot 'end the war'
Obama said he was going to pull the troops out of Iraq and end the war, only going back in if al-Qaida sets up bases in Iraq,
MeCain pointed out that al-Qaida is in Iraq right now...
Obama agrees with him:
I do know that al-Qaida is in Iraq and that's why I have said we should continue to strike al-Qaida targets

So

1. Obama is not going to pull the troops out until al-Qaida is defeated

2. Going back to the invasion and who voted for it does not address what we are going to be able to do to get out of. (it works in the primary against Clinton but not in the GE going forward)

from the link:

McCain criticized Obama for saying in Tuesday night's Democratic debate that, after U.S. troops were withdrawn, as president he would act "if al-Qaida is forming a base in Iraq."

"I have some news. Al-Qaida is in Iraq. It's called `al-Qaida in Iraq,'" McCain told a crowd in Tyler, Texas, drawing laughter at Obama's expense. He said Obama's statement was "pretty remarkable,"

Obama quickly answered back while campaigning in Ohio. "I do know that al-Qaida is in Iraq and that's why I have said we should continue to strike al-Qaida targets," he told a rally at Ohio State University in Columbus.

"But I have some news for John McCain," Obama added. "There was no such thing as al-Qaida in Iraq until George Bush and John McCain decided to invade Iraq. ... They took their eye off the people who were responsible for 9/11 and that would be al-Qaida in Afghanistan, that is stronger now than at any time since 2001."

36. Here is what the end of the debate should be.
McCain supported the unnecessary invasion of Iraq. What other unnecessary wars is he going to get us into. I don't think he needs to win the argument logically now. At this point, as long as McCain is defending the war, he is losing.

27. it IS great!
And to use a martial-arts metaphor, he's had to deflect Hillary's blows without 'really' counterstriking, 'hands-down'-

Hillary, a fellow dem, knows exactly where he pulled his punches, stopping just short of her face.

With McCain, he can deflect and counter-punch in the same maneuver! And he will not have to spare John's face.

Take the gloves off, Barack!

28. Makes me think he's a West Wing fan
Remember Ron Silver's line?

"We all need some therapy, because somebody came along and said, "'Liberal' means soft on crime, soft on drugs, soft on Communism, soft on defense, and we're gonna tax you back to the Stone Age because people shouldn't have to go to work if they don't want to!" And instead of saying, "Well, excuse me, you right-wing, reactionary, xenophobic, homophobic, anti-education, anti-choice, pro-gun, Leave It To Beaver trip back to the Fifties...!", we cowered in the corner, and said, "Please. Don't. Hurt. Me." No more. I really don't care who's right, who's wrong. We're both right. We're both wrong. Let's have two parties, huh? What do you say? "

Obama got attacked on his "patriotism" by idiots that equate wearing a flag to honoring it. His response wasn't a press release saying "nuh uh" and a photo op the next day of him wearing the pin. It was a press release that said, "They want to talk about patriotism? All right...let's talk about thousands of American soldiers dying in their war of choice. Let's talk about trampling on the constitution for the last 7 years. Let's talk about American ideals and how they square with secret prisons, torture, and the suspension of habeus corpus for American citizens. They want to have a debate about patriotism? Bring it on, assholes!"

Ok...so I paraphrased a bit...lol
