Lampasas, Texas: Where the Populist Movement was born.
Lot's of times when we dis on Texas (since the faux cowboy idiot took up residence of the White House), we forget that the birthplace of the Populist Movement was among central-Texas farmers in Lampasas. That movement--the last true democratic movement in American history according to many historians--seized the American south and spread like wildfire across the country. Through education, camp meetings, and interracial cooperation, the Populists gave the disempowered a voice--a voice and a movement that truly scared the PTBs.

Which ever way it goes on Tuesday, I'm happy for my Texan friends, who've rarely "mattered" in the Democratic nomination process as of recent. They get to have a huge say in this year's election.

Then on to Mississippi on March 11--one of the many states that became a Populist stronghold in the late 19th century.

This native Texan thinks that this has been the most exciting election season in memory!

6. Maybe Texas would be a 'blue' state if it hadn't been gerrymandered to crazy and beyond.

7. populism was also the vehicle used by the KKK and the Nazis
just sayin'.. populist politics, historically, has been associated with some pretty nasty jingoistic stuff.

I'm not a native but I've been here for 20 years and I have to agree with you - this has been the most exciting election season I've ever experienced here. :hi:
