I had a weird discussion with a Republican co-worker about Obama
He said that republicans are worried about this, "Hope thing." He believes that people who are going bankrupt are holding out until after the election to see if Obama wins, because they supposedly interpret this 'hope' as, "Obama will bail them out of their financial mistakes free and clear instead of them having to face their own financial mistakes." He said that he would rather see Hillary win because of it (he is completely obsessed with hating the Clinton family.) Like most republicans he sees the electorate as mindless zombies who are absolutely mind controlled by the media. I told him that people just aren't that simple or stupid and the financial problems with credit markets are largely a result of the trillions this war has cost us and not the fault of those who fall victim to the fallout of same.

He listens to RW talk shows all day long in his office, so I suspect this is where it comes from. He is quite tired of Bush, I have noticed, but he buys into all of the typical boilerplate BS from the right and believes that tax cuts are the answer to everything.

I found his worries quite bizarre, to say the least. I must admit, it made me feel sorry for him in a wierd way.

1. for the right wing, it is never the fault of big business, only regular folks.
you would think righties would realize Rush and company are telling them it is their own fault they don't make more money and that the mortgage scammers snookered them out of their house.

2. Next time he whines about the media, you might bring up the fact that
the media is controlled by those who support REPUBLICAN candidates and platforms. If HRC and Obama were not very business friendly, the media wouldn't give them a moment of time other then to ridicule them. There is no "librul" media brainwashing people-only a massive conservative media that speaks with one voice.

5. He went on a tax cut rant the other day...
I flat out told him that I paid more income taxes last year than Ford Motor Corporation and Bushes and the repubicans tax cuts for the rich BS has turned into an absolute free ride for Bushes friends while heaping massive debt on the economy and our kids, who will have to pay for it. He was completely speechless and just walked back to his office, saying nothing.

Their belief system is like a fetid onion with a thin layor of paper hiding the rot within. Just peel it back a little bit and let them peek inside and they shut right up.

3. I'd probably react the same. If he wants to think the electorate is mindless zombies...
...I won't sweat it, but it really troubles me when Progressives buy this Rushian spin. The electorate is many individuals who are, for the most part, working hard and loving their families and taking care of the things important to them.

Unfortunately, the criminals in politics - primarily RW criminals - have convinced them that matters of governance AREN'T important to them. And that allows the criminals to loot the government as they see fit.

Disgusting.

NGU.

6. leave it to the right wing to worry about "hope"
They must realize when hope replaces fear and hate, their politics are pretty much gone
