Is it even conceivable now that Hillary would listen to Gore, Edwards, or Dean?
Edited on Tue Mar-04-08 04:16 PM by IDemo
It's my belief that given the math here , here and elsewhere, that barring a gigantic win tonight, Hillary would do herself and the Democratic party a big favor by suspending her campaign this week. It is time for one or all of the heavyweights: Al Gore, John Edwards, and Howard Dean, to tap her on the shoulder with some gentle advice if she continues to flunk the grade school arithmetic needed to see the simple truth.

It is one thing to suggest that democracy only works when every voter's choice is counted, but this is not a general election we are talking about. Every system has its own forms of perceived unfairness — Electoral College votes and super delegates, for example. But in both a general election and a primary campaign, there comes a point that the numbers can no longer be argued with reasonably, and a call can be made for a winner. We are there now.

It doesn't seem that Hillary is likely to embrace an elementary math textbook anytime soon, however. The goal posts have been moved all over the field and are now up in the second tier of the stands. And judging by her announcements lately, she seems determined to hang on to this fight like a barnacle clinging to a pier, even if that 3:00PM call comes from Al, Howard or John.

This ain't gonna be pretty..

1. She would have it much easier if she would listen to the voters.

2. Bill Richardson said Sunday that whomever leads by Wednesday should be the nominee
he was a big Clinton supporter and employee and if he is signaling that he will come out and ask her to step down, or endorse Obama next week (same thing), I think that many of the 'party people' will ask her in private, and start to in public, to step aside quietly.

12. Yes, that's what he said
I expect him to endorse Obama tomorrow and ask Hillary (publicly) to suspend her campaign for the good of the party... UNLESS she picks up +50 delegates today... and I just don't believe that will happen.

3. Dean Said April
There was an article floating around where he stated that if there wasn't a clear nominee by April, he'd sit them both down ...

And I'm still not thrilled with that. We've had brokered conventions before.

Such as the one like that, which claims Hillary's endorsing McCain, whether or not there are two candidates in the race for nomination.

If your candidate can't take a hit that's based on the facts, he shouldn't be in the race.

21. I never said that Hillary endorsed McCain
are you claiming that the video is FALSE???

Really?

Because it played on ALL the major news networks... different camera angles and everything.

I don't care about anything on the video past her speech.

That's enough for me to want this to end and end quickly.

4. NO, she doesn't respect a single one of them.
And at one point or another has thrown each of them under the bus.

5. The Clintons & DLC will call them crazy lefty loons
the media will follow and the campaign will go on. The only way to stop her is for massive numbers of superdelegates to publicly go for Obama. Or for Democrats to wake the hell up and realize we do not want the bitter partisanship that a President Hillary would bring to this country.

who is an excellent author on just how corrupt and fascist the current administration is.

Sadly, no, Hillary is beyond reach by anyone or any group in the Democratic party. I doubt she would even listen to Bill about dropping out. I expect Richardson to endorse Obama tomorrow and call for party unity. I suspect that unless Hillary gains on Obama by +50 delegates today, Richardson will be joined by a number of others (Pelosi and Reid have been mentioned).

But I don't think she will do it.

We have 2 more months of this crap go wade through. Two more months of flying poo flinging monkeys.

13. Another name from the past has surfaced...
The ultimate Clinton "fixer" Vernon Jordan. Rumored to have been asked by senior party officials to "do the intervention" with Hillary and Bill. Unlikely that Hillary will listen to him either.

15.  she'd listen to Joe Lieberman or Rupert Murdoch
but they'd tell her to stubbornly stay in till the bitter end and divide the party. Hmmm.....

IT is the burning question of the moment: who will have the courage to tell Hillary Clinton it is time to quit? Friends of the couple say the chances are that it will be her husband, and that he will tell her if she loses Texas or Ohio on Tuesday. He has already made it clear she cannot soldier on without a double victory.

If, however, she wins narrowly in both states but lags significantly behind in the number of delegates needed to clinch the nomination, then who will tell Bill Clinton to tell Hillary the game is up?

It could be Vernon Jordan, the African-American power broker who is so loyal to the Clintons that he arranged a job for the former intern Monica Lewinsky when she was no longer welcome at the White House.

17. If Hillary loses tonight and stays in...
... we'll all be talking about President McCain in 2009. Why? because she's made it abundantly clear that she'll burn down the Democratic Party on the way to the DNC.

Thanks to Hillary and her ego-trip we are screwed. If she wins TX and OH she'll never stop until Denver and we'll be sure to lose come November.
