I just got back from voting |
|
There was a solid, heavy turnout in my precinct. Of course, it is a small town...but well represented. The very first name on my ballot was John Edwards. It made me smile. I then proceeded to sit down and vote my conscience.

I voted for President LAST. I seriously had to do some soul searching before I blackened that square...but when I did it, I knew I made the right choice for the right reasons.

27. I had a similar experience |
|
so I can totally relate. It was the most difficult choice I have had to make in all my years of voting. And I had to make that decision in front of a crowd of about 150 people! (In NV early caucuses) I was literally the very last one in the room to make my decision, and almost didn't even cast a preference ballot -- that's how hard it was for me. I was just glad I had put on deodorant that morning...
I commend you!

I think I recall you're on the 'other' side, but either way, I admire your post for it's info w/out taking sides. I too wish Edwards was a real choice still.

In the morning. It's been raining all day. There was hardly anyone there. Edwards, Kucinich, Clinton and Obama were on the ballot.

22. Yep. There were a bunch of little old ladies that were the election judges |
|
The youngest was probably 70. She shook her finger at me and said to be there at 7, no later than 7:15 because the doors would be locked. "We have to have order to this process"...she said. For some reason I felt like I was in 6th Grade and Mrs. Odom was teaching my class.

26. a surprising incident at an Apple Store today |
|
Edited on Tue Mar-04-08 07:01 PM by spooky3
in No. VA. (We voted several weeks ago.) Had to take in some bad laptop batteries for replacement at the Genius Bar (sorry, that's what Apple calls it). While waiting, I eavesdropped on the conversations between other "Geniuses" and their customers. One 20-something, white Genius cheerfully asked his mid-30s female customer if she was excited about today. She asked why? and he said because of the primaries in Ohio, Texas, etc., then "today will decide whether I am going to make a contribution to a campaign." As he went on it was clear he was talking about Clinton, which surprised me since he didn't fall into the "Clinton demographic" (you know, the papers would have you believe he doesn't exist) and he was obviously so interested in politics that he brought it up with someone he didn't know! (maybe he's one of us DUers!) Finally, I went away wondering if Clinton does well, will she get a huge burst of contributions from people now on the sidelines waiting to see if they would be throwing away their $?

28. That's funny...I had a conversation in the Bethesda Apple Store on MD primary day |
|
I went there right after I voted to buy a skin for my iPod, proudly displaying the "I voted" sticker on my coat. One of the salespeople asked me where I voted, what the turnout was, etc. Then several other people in the store chimed in about their voting experience...everybody was excited. There was a mixture of Obama & Hillary voters, but we all got along very well..had a lot of fun talking.

29. That is funny. Our conversation turned to the yahoo report that |
|
Apple stores are allegedly a great place to "meet guys" and the Genius who helped me said the story was in Cosmopolitan and there's truth to it - for all ages. He says you'd be surprised how many people they'd seen get together there. I do think Apple has created a nice vibe for their stores - they have nice and smart employees who like working there; the stores are welcoming and fun for the cool and the not-so-cool, both for those of us who have had Apple products a long time and newcomers. Maybe that's what makes people open up about "taboo" topics without causing fist fights!

30. I just got back from the caucus |
|
Waited in line for about an hour. Let me start by saying we live in an area that is 50% white/50% black so there aren't any minorities. The precinct I am in is heavily African American. When I got to the caucus, it was held in a Black church. There were about 75 Black church members gathered around their preacher receiving instructions on what to do. It was a little tense when they locked the doors and people were beating on them to get in. The sign-in process took quite a while. When the dust settled...the Hillary-Obama lines were drawn strictly by race. There were no white people on Obama's side and there were no black people on Hillary's side. Obama ended up winning this particular caucus...they received 5 delegates and the Hillary side received 2 delegates. Countywide though....the overall vote was 65% in favor of Hillary.
