1. Tell me how Hillary won early votes by 12% again.
Just say it one more time. I want to hear it.

4. Looks like TX will be ok for Obama. Won early voting big
and doing about as well as Clinton today. He will absolutely rule at caucuses tonight. He'll come out of tonight winning more delegates than Hillary.

5. I'm not sure I believe that the "red phone"...
...worked, but if it did---I wouldn't consider a Rovian, fear-inducing load of
baloney--anything to crow about.

We used to be disgusted by Republicans, like George Bush, who engaged in these
types of fear tactics.

Now we applaud them in our own party.

Sick.

8. Of course.

When we do it, it's all for a good cause, sweetness and light and all that. Ends justify the means.

When they do it, it's because they're evil.

:sarcasm:

Read the sig line (on edit: which of course are turned off, natch).

6. Negative campaigning works
Every political scientist will tell you that. No matter what people say and how they pretend they want politicians to run more positive campaigns, study after study show that negative campaigning is the most effective, bar none.

That's neither a criticism nor a compliment of Clinton, I'm just stating empirical results of studies done over the years. I don't know if those breaking for Clinton were from the red phone commercial, but perhaps. I guess it depends on the area of the state. SE Texas hasn't seen that ad very often, so I don't know how much of an impact it made here.

23. Not nice
As one who is still uncommitted and voted for neither of the 2 frontrunners, I must say you were unnecessarily snarky. My comment was that negative campaigning works, period. Not better or worse for any particular candidate, it just works.

Sorry that you felt the need to make a dig at one of the candidates when it was completely unnecessary.

And by the way, those "uneducated voters" have voted Dem a hell of a lot longer than most Obama supporters. Union members, workers in the service industries and blue collar workers tend to not have as much education as professional people- but it doesn't mean those people are stupid or worthy of ridicule. Neither of my grandfathers graduated from high school, one grandmother barely did and one grandmother had a masters degree. ALL were good, loyal and highly intelligent Dems precisely because they were working class people (even the grandmother with the degree). Classist bullshit has for too long been tolerated on DU. Mother Jones would kick your ass if Skittles didn't first. :)

25. is that not true?
do you think that people who are educated, people who follow politics closely, are going to succumb to negative advertising like uneducated voters would?

It just makes sense, regardless of whether it sounds mean or not.

26. Actually, the studies I remember from my poli sci
classes years ago showed that negative campaigning works on all voters, because it hits us on a subconcious, subliminal level. We don't think we react to negative campaigns and we all claim to not like them, but they work not because we logically consider the negative ad but because we are seemingly hard wired for it. Which is why we still respond to the pollsters that we want good, clean campaigns, even though nothing could be farther from the truth.

Sorry I don't have a link, and so I'm sure some people won't believe me. But maybe there are some other poli sci majors on here who remember those same or similar studies, too.

14. Ask Bush and his thugs whether fear works in elections. Doesn't Hillary feel good
using the same tactics. Too bad McCain will easily out play her in the GE on the politics of fear.

29. It was not the ad, but Rush telling Repukes to vote for Hillary.
After going all out to favor Obama over Hillary early on, the RW spin machine is now afraid that the Obama movement might be unstoppable. So now they are telling their Republican voters to vote for Hillary on the PRETENSE that she will be easier to beat in November...but really, they are now afraid of Obama. LOL
