It could be a torrential downpour there and a raindrop won't touch a Democrat. I think all five blue bloods in those counties voted for Clinton.

The super wealthy like Hillary and Bill hate to have their tax records out.

29. Here you go, genius.
Statement by the Canadian Embassy
Washington, D.C., March 3, 2008 — The Canadian Embassy and our Consulates General regularly contact those involved in all of the Presidential campaigns and, periodically, report on these contacts to interested officials. In the recent report produced by the Consulate General in Chicago, there was no intention to convey, in any way, that Senator Obama and his campaign team were taking a different position in public from views expressed in private, including about NAFTA. We deeply regret any inference that may have been drawn to that effect.

The people of the United States are in the process of choosing a new President and are fortunate to have strong and impressive candidates from both political parties. Canada will not interfere in this electoral process. We look forward, however, to working with the choice of the American people in further building an unparalleled relationship with a close friend and partner.

http://geo.international.gc.ca/can-am/washington/menu-en.asp?lang_update=1

Your serve. Let's see what you got there. Where's this smoking gun "memo" of yours?

33. Here ya go, GENIUS.

Canada pulled into U.S. vote
RICK BOWMER/AP

THE CANADIAN PRESS

WASHINGTON–Canada was pulled smack into the middle of the U.S. election campaign today at a do-or-die juncture for Hillary Clinton, who jumped on a memo suggesting a top Barack Obama adviser told Canadians not to take his anti-NAFTA rhetoric too seriously.

After days of denials from the Canadian Embassy and the Obama campaign that any such conversation took place, a memo surfaced saying it did – on Feb. 8 at the Canadian consulate in Chicago.

But Obama economic adviser Austan Goolsbee insisted his comments about NAFTA at the meeting were misconstrued in the summarizing brief written by a Canadian official.

"Nobody reached out to the Canadians to try to assure them of anything," Obama told reporters in Carrollton, Texas.

Asked why he had appeared to deny a report last week that a meeting had taken place at all, Obama said: "That was the information I had at the time."

Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Foreign Affairs officials, meanwhile, expressed regret over the memo.<snip>

http://www.thestar.com/News/World/article/308919

Of course the Canadian Government is backtracking. The MEMO wasn't suppose to be released...GENIUS. The snippet you posted didn't say there was no memo, they're just spinning the meaning of it to cover their asses.... Genius.

Edited on Wed Mar-05-08 02:27 AM by casus belli
It was a HANDWRITTEN NOTE. That was my original point, it is STILL my point. There is no smoking gun, there are only hand-written notes taken at a conference call by someone who has already stated they were taken out of context. The statement by the Embassy was published AFTER the notes were made public. Or, do you think the fact that only you ranting about this is because the MSM is falling down on the job? It's an f-ing non issue, man. get a clue. Obama is the ONLY candidate running who has consistently spoken out AGAINST NAFTA. Hillary has a long history of praising it, taking credit for it, and yet you honestly want to sit here and tell me that Obama is the one who is dishonest on fucking NAFTA? Jesus Christ.

PS, are you a fucking parrot?

As a Buddhist (who doesn't display His Holiness' picture while battling and arguing and demeaning others I'm trying not to indulge in too many lulz but have compassion on all...
but it's damn difficult when I remember all the arrogant 'it's all over, Hillary give up you're done: Obamagic is the Mesiach/king of the world' posts I saw.

So, so many... so, so sad.

Remember people, we're ALL going to have to get together and support the Democratic candidate for President of the United States
whoever she or he may be

...so can you all please calm and compose yourselves, cut back on the hate, arrogance and insults and let the majority decide as a true Democracy should?
I swear, so many of you sound identical to Repukes when you're on that subject... chill da fug OUT

Bill Clinton with Daddy Bush here. Bill Clinton with Daddy Bush there. Bill Clinton with the big smile on his face. He likes Daddy. Daddy is making him very rich. Hillary likes Daddy too. And hopes when she leaves the White House that Daddy will make her very rich too.

Just look at the photos. That is where the $54 million, although according to some it is much, much more, came from.

The Bushes and the Clintons. One family. One dynasty. One party. The Republicrat Party. Wake up people before it's too late.

Rove style tactics means using LIES against your opponent as she has shamelessly done here. It's despicable.

We're just asking for the simple information every candidate releases, tax returns, so we know whether special interests have an undue influence in the candidate's decision making. Not Rovian. Purely democratic!

If she releases the returns, then everyone will want to know where the money came from. And people might finally connect the dots and connect the Clintons with the Bushes. So, well, she ain't gonna release nothing.

The woman is Messalina. She will destroy anyone and everyone including her own party to achieve her dream of being Madame President. And then she will turn into Marie Antoinette and tell everyone to eat cake.

86. After April 15th. Hmmmm. April 16th, September 18th,
Why not just release them now?

Maybe because this runs in the Clinton Family when they are running for President.

From Americablog:

The candidates preceding Hillary released their returns before they were the nominee. According to the Washington Post, "Sen. John F. Kerry released his returns in December 2003, long before winning the nomination; Vice President Al Gore's returns, of course, were already public." And Kucinich, Dean, Clark, Gephardt, and even evil Joe Lieberman released his returns.

Then there's Bill Clinton. In 1992, Bill Clinton made his tax returns public during the primaries. But, there was a catch. He didn't release his 1979 and 1978 tax returns. Those were the returns showing that Hillary had made a 10,000% cattle-futures profit that raised a few eyebrows.

So is that why Hillary isn't releasing her returns? Because she knows that sometimes tax returns hide things that might appear (or be) scandalous? But even that argument doesn't make sense since Hillary has promised to release her returns AFTER she becomes the nominee. That means that she has no privacy interest in her tax returns, she's going to let the public see them soon anyway, but she simply doesn't want Democratic voters to get the chance to have her tax returns inform their vote during the primaries.

If she is not hiding something, then she appears extremely incompetent. She forgot where she put them? Bill hid them from her? She lost the key to the file cabinet? She should not get a pass on this.

and aren't her previous returns already a matter of public record? I just find it hard to believe that with her eye on the ultimate prize, she would commit some kind of financial crime. They've been under such scrutiny for SO long, they would have to be scrupulous about their finances. Don't worry, they'll come out just maybe not when you want them to.

It makes me sick to think about how the Clintons started out as economically middle class and have leveraged themselves into the SUPER- RICH ECONOMIC CLASS because of exploiting their connections. Think about it: Abe Lincoln died as poor as when he got into the Presidency. He wouldn't pay to play.

The Clintons will 'revise' their tax returns. We'll never see the real thing. The system protects the RICH. Am I right?

113. Don't forget my favorite - Vin Gupta - $3 Million to Bill & Use of Jet & Trips for Hillary & Bill!
http://www.rediff.com/news/2007/may/30vin.htm

Vin Gupta: The man the Clintons love

Aziz Haniffa in Washington, DC | May 30, 2007

Vinod 'Vin' Gupta, 60, founder, chairman and CEO of infoUSA -- one of America's largest consumers of information with millions of clients -- is probably the single biggest contributor to the Democratic Party over the years.

He is a longtime Clinton benefactor, who has suddenly found himself thrust into the public domain in the wake of major articles in the New York Times and the Washington Post regarding his use of his company's private jet to fly the former President and Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton on personal, business and campaign trips.

Some shareholders in infoUSA have filed a lawsuit alleging that all of this was 'a waste of corporate assets', and an effort by Gupta to 'ingratiate himself', with these high-profile guests.

(snip)

Gupta, besides being one of the single biggest individual contributors -- whom Kapur by now had coveted and cultivated -- was afforded the honour of introducing Clinton, which he did with rousing gusto.

From then on, Gupta courted the Clintons and in turn, was afforded the opportunity of spending a night in the White House Lincoln Bedroom -- the first Indian American to do so.

As his sustained contributions to the Democrats continued to flow, Clinton offered him the post of first Counsel General to Bermuda and then the Ambassadorship to Fiji, both of which Gupta declined. While he maintained this was for business reasons, it was rumored to be because there were doubts his nomination would be confirmed by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee due to alleged violations of Securities and Exchange Commission rules.

Just before his second term ended, Clinton appointed Gupta as a member to the prestigious Board of Trustees of the John F Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. But even with Clinton out of the White House, Gupta's friendship with the now former President grew, and he brought him on as a consultant to infoUSA and, according to the lawsuit, beyond nearly $3 million in consulting fees, had flown the Clintons and himself to Acapulco, Mexico, on a vacation in 2002 and also to Switzerland, Hawaii and Jamaica. He was also said to have provided corporate jets for Mrs. Clinton at least seven times since 2002, although it was unclear whether he had done so after she began her Presidential campaign.

110th Congress

In the first month of the newly Democratic-controlled 110th Congress, Obama worked with Russ Feingold (D–WI) to eliminate gifts of travel on corporate jets by lobbyists to members of Congress and require disclosure of bundled campaign contributions under the "Honest Leadership and Open Government Act", which was signed into law in September 2007.
