Would Hillary prefer the VP slot OR becoming a Supreme Court Justice? |
|
While I was falling asleep last night, I was thinking about this - envisioning a meeting between Obama and Clinton to deal with the current state of the nomination.
My basic premise (some may disagree but I believe this is basically where we realistically stand right now): I don't think there is any way she can overcome his delegate lead and I think it would be suicidal for the superdelegates to overturn the pledged delegate choice.
What would Hillary prefer - the Vice President slot OR the first open Supreme Court Justice slot?
Bill wont ever be a Supreme Court Justice. I like the idea of her doing something so impressive without it being something Bill already did.
What do you think?

3. I would offer her the Supreme Court, but I can't even begin to imagine the confirmation hearings |
|
If we had 60 or so Dem Senators, it would be one thing. But, Good Lord, that would be a blood letting.

5. I don't know. I think they all respect her and know what an intelligent, hard worker she is and |
|
they also know she isn't the caricature the RW made her out to be.
I think her being a Senator would make getting through the confirmation battle easier.

7. Her votes in the Senate have disappointed me... |
|
I'd hate to see her get the chance to be a Supreme Court Justice and end up being the one overturning Roe v. Wade or something. I don't think she's trustworthy enough to be entrusted with that position.

8. Good point about her being a Senator and part of the club |
|
I would make this deal in a heartbeat if I could a back-channel promise from an Arlen Spector type that she would be confirmed.
This is some big-time backroom political stuff, isn't it?

4. After her remark putting McCain above Obama |
|
in the who's better class, I really wonder how much of a Democrat she really is..which begs the question as to how liberal she is. I've always viewed her as Republican light.

6. Supreme Court Justice... |
|
The idea of Hillary being Pres. upsets "conservatives" enough. Could you imagine the wailing and gnashing of teeth if she was nominated to be a Supreme Court Justice? I would die from laughter.

9. She's be horrible for the Supreme Court. |
|
Give her majesty whatever else she desires, including the presidency itself.
The Court needs judges that can *pretend* to be credible and following jurisprudence not politics.
Putting a politician with so little judicial credibility on the Court would just further deteriorate respect for the institution.
