The 352 undeclared superdelegates see the same delegate math we do. |
|
If they all declared for Obama tomorrow, it would basically end the contest.
The question is: Why don't they?

2. I thought the entire point of superdelegates was to avoid Chicago '68 |
|
and what happened in 1972.
If the point is to have the voters decide, why have superdelegates at all?

The point of the pledged delegates was to avoid a '68, the point of the superdelegates is to avoid another '72.
That said, the superdelegates are in a position to cause another '68, and they're going to want to avoid that.

both '68 and '72. To give both the people and the party major influence over the process.
If the point is to let the people have a chance to decide the race before the party gets involved, that possibility has ended.
There is no way either candidate can win this race without superdelegates. Superdelegates WILL decide it. The question is why dont they decide it now when they can avoid 4-5 months of in-fighting?

Well thats not a possibility.
There arent enough pledged delegates from the remaining states to do that (only Obama has an outside chance, Hillary doesnt).
Taking current, or even projected pledged delegates to the two candidates, Obama would still have the most.
Thats a reality, many websites have done the projections.
If the party wants to prevent an all out war of negativity that will only serve to provide GE talking points the Republicans can exploit they have to call for an end to this.
We'll be better off if they do this as soon as possible.

5. Oh I agree with you, it is time for Dean to seat both down |
|
and 'splain the facts of life to BOTH and why we either get a unity ticket with both of then in it, or one of them has to pull out, for the good of the party, and I don't care which one does that at this point.
To the unity party, I am not too particular who is on top, as I see them as the same, not enough light in between their policies, in reality. But if we are to avoid LOOSING in November... yep we can do that... it is time for Dr. Dean to 'splain the facts of life to both of them.
Oh and 'nother disclaimer, even if he does, I don't expect either of them to get it, if I judge this by supporters for both of them
