Devastating Newsweek article re: Hillary's chances .... link |
|
http://www.newsweek.com/id/119010Especially this line: I've asked several prominent uncommitted superdelegates if there's any chance they would reverse the will of Democratic voters. They all say no. It would shatter young people and destroy the party.

1. Keep in mind, this is Jonathan Alter. |
|
He hates Hillary. He's the anti-Taylor-Marsh. And I have never seen him smirk so much as he has in this winter of Hillary's discontent.
The guy is insightful in most cases, but he has such strong agendas pro and contra particular individuals that it's impossible to take his word about people without independent corroboration.

and that when he says that super delegates are afraid of ripping the nomination from the front runner - he's making it up.

43. I have heard both Durbin and Kerry say almost exactly that |
|
Kerry was quoted in the NYT in mid February saying it would be a disaster for the party - either way. (It wasn't as clear then that Obama would be highest. If I heard, two I bet there were more. Also, I think both these men are speaking to superdelegates - it is pretty likely some have accepted that position as their own.

Except the nominee needs a majority of the votes and the delgates are no longer bound after the first ballot. After that, they are free to vote as they please. This is why Hillary does NOT want revotes in Michigan and Florida. If Obama got his proportion, even from losses, that could put him over the top and guarantee the nomination. That would stop the brokered convention.
Hillary is playing chicken with all our fates right now. I think this needs to become a campaign issue. Numerically, Hillary cannot win without blowing out Obama in the coming contests. Hopefully, this can keep Hillary voters home.
Hillary is content with going to the convention in the minority and trying to bully her way to the nomination. This is BAD news for Democrats. I'm doubling down on Obama!!! Stop Hillary NOW!!!!

And I also don't think he hates Hillary (got any proof of that?), he just doesn't like that her campaign is trying to change the rules halfway through the game.

After next Tuesday, Hillary will probably need at least 63% in every election here on out. And if she doesn't get at least 63% in PA, she will fall further behind.

...a candidate you have worked so hard for.
In polite (non-gloating) ways I have referred Hillary supporters to the math, some get it - others have called it Obama math.
I really don't understand what Hillary hopes to gain at this point? What is her end game? I can't fathom she would want the party to have a very bloody floor fight at the convention in Denver.

Well, 3, 5, and 8 don't, but 0, 1, 2, 7, and 9 do and 4 and 6 are undecided.
And pi, e, and log2 absolutely can't stand even being on the same number line with her.

42. OTOH, Alter would probably say that she's been endorsed by i |
|
Because, according to him, her chance of winning is wholly imaginary.
For my part, I think she's the underdog but that her chance of winning isn't imaginary. Nevertheless, I was subjected to the same irresistible temptation to make a math joke. :)
