MOMENTUM SHIFTS BACK TO OBAMA, AS FINAL CALIFORNIA COUNT GIVES HIM 6-8 MORE DELEGATES!
Edited on Thu Mar-06-08 10:38 PM by Dems Will Win

http://vote.sos.ca.gov/Returns/pres/dem/59.htm

What happened here is that more ballots were allowed, and Obama went over the 49% in 4 districts, giving him 4 more delegates, and taking 4 away from Hillary.

Calitics is reporting that Sen. Obama will be getting some unexpected delegates in CA due to the completion of the recount!

Edit: The California SoS seems to confirm the election results as of March 5th (which is after the March 4th Calitics article) and the math works out! So it looks legit!

Anyone know what the best way to get the AP to update their list is? I need to see this in print..

Today the results of the February 5 primary become official. The final spread in the popular vote between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama is 8.9%. Clinton garnered 51.8% to Obama's 42.9%. The final delegates will be 203 for Clinton to 167 for Obama. This roughly averages out to the exact spread in the head-to-head popular vote (Hillary got 54.6% of the head-to-head vote and 54.8% of the delegates), so the convoluted delegate apportionment system worked in the case of California.

I'm also pleased to announce that 47,153 "double bubble" votes were counted in Los Angeles County. The expectation on the day of the election was that none of these ballots from decline to state voters would be counted, but the pressure put on by the Courage Campaign and other groups led to this result. And by the way, 51% of those votes went to Hillary Clinton and 42% to Barack Obama, so those who insisted upon viewing this through some partisan lens can respectfully shut the fuck up. This was about voter rights and remedying disenfranchisement; it always was, even though it had no material impact on the overall election.

203-167 is more delegates for Obama. Per Demconwatch's AP numbers, it's a net shift of +6 for Obama. Per CNN, +8.

That's about how much Clinton garnered from OH and TX. The delegate advantage, gone, just like that.

Sorry for the short diary...

Here's the DemConWatch delegate tracker page:

The Calitics post was on Tues., March 4th, and the SoS website sez their results are updated as of March 5th. So it looks like it's on the up and up!

http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2008/3/6/21155/40965/977/470905

It was Clinton 207, Obama 163 -- now it's Obama 167 and Clinton 203!

PLEASE RECOMMEND IF YOU ARE AMAZED THAT OBAMA JUST GOT 6-8 MORE DELEGATES FROM CALIFORNIA!

109. A fourth should be coming on Saturday.
Hastert's old seat is about to be won in a special election by a pretty nice guy... who I daresay will endorse Obama on account of Obama doing a good amount of work to make sure the Dems take the seat. Somehow I think going out of your way to make sure the Dems pick up another house seat should count like triple. Also Edwards primary win over Wynn is largely due to Obama's coattails.

6. That is a significant number.
Not for Obama so much, but that is a big number for Clinton to lose. Almost what she got in her "big win".

So, since Tuesday, Obama has picked up 6-8 in CA, 9 Superdelegates, and the TX caucus. Momentum is back for Obama.

now they'll want to do away with delegates, although the system seemed to work just fine in '92 & '96. FL & MI should count just as they stand, according to them. What next from Team Hillary? Tongue kissing John McCain on the WH steps? Excuse me, I just threw up a little bit in my mouth.....

Now watch, Queen Billary will declare that they immediately arrange to have the elections in Florida and Michigan as she deems appropriate.

Will this never end. In all my 40 plus years of voting I am so ashamed of these Rove type tactics ~ how much longer will we endure this trauma named Billary?

28. The NAFTA/Canada switcheroo was serious bottom-feeding.
IMO they should either split the delegates from Michigan and Florida to seat them, and she claims that's all she wants, or f*ck it. The GOP is salivating to have some fun in a Florida re-vote, and Florida is the epicenter for elections falling off the back of a truck.

Somebody needs to get a net because Hillary has gone full-tilt batshit crazy. She is aligning herself with the GOP in a number of ways. What she doesn't have is the charm of her husband to bullshit/bulldoze her way to the White House, and she is trying to take the Democratic Party down with her.

It is really quite breathtaking.

Georgia's gone Republican since '96, but Obama has more of a chance of putting it in play than Clinton does thanks to the demographics (African American population + large student population in Atlanta and Athens + upper-middle income educated professionals in Atlanta).

75. Talk is cheap
Buck up for Obama. Pass the hat guys send some cash or spend sometime at the Phone bank. Do what needs to be done. Show that no matter what, Obama will go in the front runner to this most likely brokered convention. Mississippi elections coming and biggie PA. We can get the already established momentum to steamroll Clinton in these next contests. Remember, If nothing else, 27 out of 41 states voted for Obama. The media needs to be shown we are strong in big states as well. YES WE CAN.

85. Education is Fundamental
Do the Math.... Uh! If you can count... Most of Americans can, and we're sick and tired of having our intelligence insulted...

All Hillary supporters, I appreciate your attention to this matter... I ask you to join the Obama team to help take our country in an new direction, one of openness, honesty, integrity, hope, respect, wise judgment and prosperity... Together we can make the difference. We all have worked hard to get power back to the people. With Barack Obama, we have that opportunity...

Thanks All,

MC

87. I have a life and am amazed whenever I see the system work. What's
even better is that these delegates arose from the ashes of votes that probably just as easily could have been ignored and not an artificial seating of delegates as Sen. Clinton has proposed for FL.

who voted for Edwards. After Edwards withdrew, 5 days before the primary, they were wishing they could have voted for Obama. I just think if the CA primary was still in June, Hillary wouldn't get her 'big win' out here.

Obama walked away with the most delegates, he's the winner.

Apparently the dittoheads didn't want to stick around for the caucuses.

108. Incorrect, she won the primary, but TX is a HYBRID, primary and caucus together.
If you're going to say she won the state that would be the combination of both and so she lost TX.

Although she did win the primary.

110. Do you say they split? Obama won the Caucus more than she won the Primary...
Honestly, shouldn't the tie go to the delegates won?

It's just bragging rights but it seems like the focus on the primary in a state that holds a primacaucus is a little fishy.
