And I just hate these random, drive-by posts.
Substance. Give me substance. If I didn't want substance, I would be a repuke.

There are always about 10 threads against Dean and maybe two against all the other candidates put together.

19. And Bush saying that there will be "time for politics later" keeps |
|
echoing in my brain. It's like he's got someone else doing the dirty work.
I really prefer Dennis Kucinich's policies, but the crucial thing might be process. It could be that the only way to defeat the BFEE is through process, and Dean seems to be leading the way on that.
I woke up with the thought today that if Dean got enough people to donate (even a minute amount) they couldn't use BBV to steal the election.

6. I agree that it is out of control |
|
It is one thing to debate who the better candidate would be based on policy issues, marketing issues (sorry to say) or their actual record of past acts. It is quite another to resort to pithy antagonism of any candidate. I suggest reading this thread: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=132&topic_id=48452

I used to post substantial, flame-free posts sincerely questioning Dean's record, only to get a litany of "poops" and personal attacks. Now I just go for the jugular and say the hell with it.
That being said about the jugular, I don't post drive-by threads. Even I have standards, low as they may be. :D

If and when I post a criticism of any candidate, it's exactly that, a criticism. I'm really tired of being accused of attacking when I'm not, so I certainly understand why you would just go for the jugular and damn the torpedos.
As for me, I have too much stress and drama in my life as it is. Now I just read all the candidate threads and take what I can out of them and leave the rest to the trash heap. :-)

20. I have read that thread |
|
I took an oath like that a month ago. It didn't work. I found that some people who felt strongly we shouldn't attack other democrats, really meant we shouldn't attack the democrats they liked. At least that is the way it seemed, as evidenced by the candidates and supporters they bothered to speak up for.

I said something on a Clark thread and a couple people acted like I called their mother a name..only one Clark supporter gave me the benefit of the doubt.
And while you know I love and appreciate you and many Dean supporters, go read ATA where I SUPPORTED and defended Dean only to be indiscriminately flamed by a very poorly behaving NOTORIUS Dean supporter.

12. Are The 2 Threads About Dean's Lies (Iowa & NH) Included In Your Tally? |
|
1 thread about Dean's dishonest ad in NH- Dean says he was the only one to oppose Iraq War. 1 thread about Dean's dishonest statement he's the only candidate from a farm state.
Because these are about ACTUAL statements coming from Dean which are demonstrably FALSE.
Discussing them isn't attacking... it just seems that way because Dean's behavior is so reprehensible.
Stop playing the victim when your candidate's one of the perpertrators.

If you are going to say that he said something, at least get the quote right.
He IS the only MAJOR candidate to be against the war from the beginning. All the wishing and dreaming in the world won't make Kucinich a major candidate, and Clark didn't even have his story straight when he entered the race.
He IS the only candidate from a RURAL state. Compare the ratio of farms to acreage and you'll see that VT has the largest farm ratio.
So you're lies have been revealed for what they are over and over and over again.

You're right, your Kerry thread wasn't an attack, it was your reporting of your experience. (I happen to be a Kerry supporter, but I didn't view your post as an attack, just your gut reaction to an even).
In fairness, though, many of the negative threads about Dean are not attacks either. It's simply critical treatment that Dean has nor received prior to now, treatment that he definitely WILL receive (and then some) when he's running against Bush. Dean has to prove his mettle right now, so we'll see how he does.
Dean's getting "attacked" because he's the front-runner, not because of the "vile baseness of the forces of evil that oppose him".

I'm just brining a little levity to the discussion.
I think it's the tone of the posts that set our hackles up. Alot of these criticism are, how can I put it, not particularly diplomatic.
And also, we get a little tired of having to debunk the same accusations over and over and over. Nobody is saying that there hasn't been a few instances where Dean has been wrong, and I think that we've owned up to it. The problem is that they won't let it go. We can admit to the occasional faux pas, but the same people just keep hammering away at it. Get's a little frustrating.

1. If you start a thread in the General Discussion forum, you must present your opinion in a manner that is not inflammatory, which respects differences in opinion, and which is likely to lead to respectful discussion rather than flaming. Some examples of things which should generally be avoided are: unnecessarily hot rhetoric, nicknames for prominent Democrats or their supporters, broad-brush statements about groups of people, single-sentence "drive-by" thread topics, etc.
