Okay so there is a brokered convention... |
|
By some heavy work by the party officials we have a Clinton/Obama or Obama/Clinton ticket.
Yay.
That means that anything the Republicans say can be claimed to be racist or sexist about our candidates. :D

1. You cannot have a brokered convention with just two people, someone will HAVE a majority n/t |

2. Neither candidate will have 2,025 without the Supers many of whom are not picking |
|
sides yet and unless Senator Obama or Senator Clinton gets a MAJOR majority number, most are probably going to wait until convention and then vote.
At that point, something has to give. A ticket with both really reflects what has been going on.

As I said, many of the supers are going to wait and see.

And I don't think it will be a mystery as to how it will go. The Dems will want to keep this as drama-free as possible. If someone (Obama, likely) goes into the convention with a the most pledged delegates, the Supers will swing that way. To not do that would be travesty of mass proportions and we will have echos of Bush/Florida and a resentful electorate with a verrrry long memory. Not something the Democrats need right now.

A block of supers could conceivably vote for neither Clinton nor Obama on the first ballot. They might decide to vote for Gore or Edwards or anyone else. After all, they can vote for whomever they want. Under that scenario, neither Clinton nor Obama might win on the first ballot. Hence we could have a brokered convention. I don't think it's likely but at least it's technically possible.

19. They could also choose not vote for either in an attempt to get both sides to sit down and discuss |
|
some sort of arrangement that prevents either side from being angry at the outcome. Possibly to force a 'Unity Ticket' or at the very least to get a discussion on the merits of it
Again, highly unlikely, but it could happen.

8. well one never knows...I think that it is possible that they may not take sides for a while. |
|
Hey, you do all that math, is it possible that both candidates can show up at convention with the same number of pledged delegates?

Hillary would have to win 61%-62% in all remaining contests or just over 51 percent in all of them except PA where she wins 85%....
I wouldn't bet the farm...

Edwards has 26, and two states are not counted. So it is possible

6. If they put Obama as VP, the Clintons would bury him in Wheresylvania for 4 years |
|
and if Hill were the Veep, Obama would be wise to hire a food tester.
I don't see this happening.

15. It's not unheard of in American politics, however..... |
|
It was meant to be as serious as Obama going to Wheresylvania. Now that I've explained it to you, are you still upset?
Now that you understand, will you stick for Obama's right to remain a resident of the US for the 4 years or is it okay to send him away and hide him..
Geees...

20. Yes actually, it is one thing to make a joke about sending someone off to |
|
handle foreign policy directly (which is something that Senator Clinton might do to President Clinton with cause) but to say that a Senator, possible President, and possible Vice President would COMMIT MURDER is beyond the pale.
That is borderline Freeper. Next you will tell me she offed Vince Foster.

10. Obama would be a sensible VP choice for Hillary |
|
If she had a snowballs chance in hell of getting the 60-85% of the super delegates necessary to overturn six months of primaries and caucuses...

21. Neither may get the nomination if it's a brokered convention |
|
A brokered convention is my dream for two reasons:
1) I never seen one in my lifetime.
2) It could let someone like John Edwards or Bill Richardson slip in.
