I picked up my kid at the airport last night for Spring Break. We talked politics for the first time |
|
He's a scary smart kid. As I mentioned in my title, we don't talk politics. Until last night.
He despises the Republicans because they are ruining the country. He is frustrated with the Democrats because we are not organized and we agree on nothing. He loves Obama because of his message, his policies, and his convictions. His strongly dislikes Hillary for the same reasons, though he'll vote for her if she's nominated.
We agreed that we'd both making donations to the Obama campaign this morning. And we did.

1. If your son is in college, and you and he donate, doesn't that mean you donated twice? |

2. My son is 22 years old, employed part time, and has his own money. |
|
I will donate again, but he donated for himself.

4. Since when has Dem's ever been organized? Thats why we aren't power mad pukes |
|
who fall in line behind their "leader". Dem's don't elect leaders we elect presidents that are willing to listen to we the people. Do Dem's take money from the rich and corporations? They sure do, but like my grand dad said, "Dem's are also known to bite the hand that feds them". Unlike pukes who pandor to the rich, give a puke a few thousand and they'll let you sleep with their mommy, wife or daughters, pukes are nothing but fancy money whores. Dem's tend to think of the little guys who are the back bone of the country. Look at your puke supporters, they believe that businesses are the answer to all the countries problems, I've even heard them say they can do business without customers. LMAO

5. Part of his frustration is the lack of progress in unraveling Bush's power grab. |
|
We aren't biting any hands right now.

6. True but remember we only have a majority if we count independents |
|
and right now we are tied with a equal number of Dem's and pukes. Lieberman sides with pukes since he became independent. We know who the party of not getting anything done really is, its the party that whined the loudest about partisanship when Dem's refused to rubber stamp GW's attacks on the bill of rights. Unless we can get pukes to vote with the Dem's we will never get anywhere and getting the pukes to vote with Dem's stands about the same odds as a snowball in hell of remaining a snowball.

My kids are split, unfortunately. I have two college kids that are libs, but my fifteen year old lives part time with his Dad, and they listen to RR radio all the time. He stepped into the car the other day telling me how McCain will make a good president. I miss him just wanting to go skateboarding..but then, Im glad he thinks for himself.

9. Thanks. I do consider myself lucky. You should have heard the kid take on his uncle... |
|
His mom's brother is a Limbaugh/Beck/Hannity apostle who has no filter on his brain -- from their lips to his truth center. My son got into a heated debate with him about global warming. Uncle Mike was spewing all the rightwing gibberish, and the kid countered every point before the echoes died. I was the Cheshire Cat that evening, particularly when Uncle Mike started calling him "college boy" in a weak attempt to insult him.
