On Samantha Power...
I re-read an article on Samantha Power, from a few months ago.

This final paragraph really stood out to me today -

Power can change minds and might one day reshape relations among nations, but a lot depends on some smaller-scale feats of diplomacy. Holbrooke suggests her book isn't the only work in progress: "She will always face the risk that more bureaucratically minded players—I'm picking my way through this very carefully—will exploit her passions, which make her vulnerable to the charge that she's not 'careful enough.' But I admire these qualities in her. We need voices like Samantha Power. Whether she does this inside the government or as an outside writer is a story that's still unfolding."

2. She really is an amazing person.
She will still contribute much. It is a shame that she was bullied out. But, she can always return to an Obama Administration, and I hope she will.

3. Monsters
Hitler and Stalin are examples of real-life monsters. For someone who is running on judgement rather than the value of experience, it seems that Obama is showing why he shouldn't be President by associating himself with a top foreign policy advisor who doesn't have the judgement to distinguish between Hillary and Hitler. Or a science advisor who can't answer science questions at a science debate and refers reporters to the Obama web site. Or an economic advisor who creates NAFTA-gate. The office of President is not the place for neophytes.

4. So Holbrooke is suggesting she is not "disciplined"...
Ummh - once again Holbrooke knows what he is talking about.

Obama and Axelrod had to know she was a loose cannon but hired her anyway. Mistake.
