Sen. Clinton is no longer an asset to our party |
|
I'm telling you now that I believe this is more about what she wants then whats best for the party and therefore our country. I've been engaged in politics since before I could vote and I'm in my mid forties now so know this... I'm about a hair away from just walking away from this entire disgusting mess once and for all. She's crossed a line with the McCain comments. Jumped the shark. If she ends up being the nominee, as a party we deserve what we get. I know you media types read these blogs from time to time. This is the memo....She is no longer an asset to the party. And it breaks this democrats heart to say that.
*******************
By saying that only she and John McCain are qualified to lead the country, particularly in times of crisis, Hillary Clinton has broken that rule, severely damaged the Democratic candidate who may well be the party's nominee, and, perhaps most ominously, revealed the unlimited lengths to which she will go to achieve power. She has essentially said that the Democratic party deserves to lose unless it nominates her.
Gary Hart
What the Clintons are doing to Obama on national security will be Karl Rove's trump card this fall. They know this. They don't care. What the Clintons always do is reduce everyone to their mediocre, hair-pulling level. It's essential that they drag the promise of politics down to their empty, careerist, poll-driven cynicism - or else they lose. That's why, I think, Obama is right actually to resist any personal negative campaigning. The rest of us have to do that for him. If he is reduced to the Clintons' level, the Clintons - and all they represent - win.
This is a generational struggle - although plenty of older folks get it completely. As such, it usually does take more than one insurrection to move past the past. Usually, we might wait for the forces of reaction and inertia and cynicism to fade away. The trouble is: we cannot afford more Rove-Morris politics given the enormous dangers we now face at home and abroad. And if you give the Clintons any power, we know they will use it to destroy - not just limit - any threat to them. They know the threat Obama and his politics present to them and their machine. They will never forgive his presumption. And you cannot assume they will at some point allow him to take over. The battle really is now.
Obama supporter, Andrew Sullivan

8. Another argumentum ad hominem, invalid argument, |
|
and a gratuitous personal insult as well. Just argue against what he is saying and with calm wisdom alone in order to elevate the "discussion" here."

employ because they detract needlessly from the case one is attempting to make. I just like well-reasoned arguments with sound facts and figures also.

17. Or at least a big "but" |
|
as in, America doesn't need THAT kind of experience. At least when Obama was reflecting on Reagan, he gave both sides of the story. Clinton has done this McCain schtick 20 times now and she never comes with the "but".
Absolutely disgusting. Anybody who gave that woman their vote out to be feeling outraged for trusting that woman.

Tell ya what ... find me ONE politician in ANY primary in our entire HISTORY that sang the praises of the opposition party candidate ... compared his qualities favorably to hers .... in order to denigrate her opponent from her own party!! The only thing I can't understand is why I'm not hearing a collective scream from every democrat in the country!! If there's no major backlash to this then Dems should fold it up and let the Rove/Clinton party take over. I know I can't stomach it. Those of you who support this have the same mindset that I see in Bush supporters who will defend his actions to the very end. Were you the ones calling them FREEPERS? Take a good look in the mirror please.

21. She also said Obama only has one speech.... |
|
indefensible when in the same breath, she praises McCain's experience. Then, as if that were not enough, she hoists McCain up as passing the threshold to be commander in chief....which Obama just having a speech....
This is totally beyond the pale. She is trying to bring down the Democratic nominee if it isn't her. As such, she does not deserve to call herself a Democrat.

29. There is absurdity after absurdity in Hillary's position.... |
|
Here we have a candidate who is behind in delegates, has lost 12 out of the last 15 states, would have to win 62% of the rest of the pledged delegates to even tie, has recently trashed the other candidate, even comparing him unfavorably to the Republican opponent, has spread false stuff about NAFTA....and somehow...this is incredulous....she is talking about an unity ticket with HER on the top! That is absurd on so many levels, it makes me wonder how she can say it with a straight face.

Like she ever was? Name one important issue she has been out in front of since being a Senator. She talks about some children's issues. I presume there is more substance to those claims than her so-called credentials working out peace in Kosovo and such. Nonetheless, her both of work has been a net negative. Not that she has been as bad as her buddy Lieberman, but one expects more progressive leadership out of New York.
Her best achievement seems to be that she prevented a Republican to occupy that senate seat.

When has she ever been an asset to the party? When a person is absolutely loathed by at least half the population, it is rather difficult to be much of an asset.

31. That was my question too-when has she ever been one? |
|
It's Bill people liked, not her. His negatives aren't as high as hers are. This is not a candidate who has a shot in hell of winning a GE with the negatives against her as high as they are in her own party, it's why she hasn't been able to and won't be able to secure the nomination.

32. Well, you're not far off, if you want to go with the ancient mariner analogy ... |
|
If the Democrats fail to win in November, it may largely be due to Sen. Clinton killing Obama's nomination and general election chances. Democratic chances in the general election will be the albatross that Clinton has killed, and the albatross that will forever hang around her neck.
