Steppenwolf: America, where are you now? We can fight along against the monster.
Great Steppenwolf song to remind us of how far we have come, and how far we have yet to go. Apparently.

"Monster/Suicide/America," I think it was 1969, as I recall. Great tune, and the chorus went:

America where are you now?
Don't you care about your sons and daughters?
Don't you know we need you now
We can't fight alone against the monster

Seems like some candidate who was then in her very early 20s has forgotten about such admonitions. And her shared history.

2. That's so deep. I really dig the poetry and wisdom of rock.

3. Guess you're right. Music and poetry haven't had influence, especially rock.

Live a little longer, maybe you will learn something.

5. I learn a little bit every day.
But connecting Hillary Clinton to Kent State is just a little bit melodramatic, don't you think?

7. You sarcastically dismissed rock. You took the argument away from Hillary.
Music and poetry in whatever form matters and always has. Despite the dismissive nature of hope and, by extension, music and poetry that the Hillary campaign's platform is apparently based on.

Hillary probably was shaken by Kent State. But this is now, and those memories apparently left no mark on her.

9. Dude, that doesn't even make sense.
I think you're trying to say that me and Hillary hate Rock, Hope, Music, and Poetry.

Again, isn't that a little over-the-top?

12. Dudette, we are in a mortal death lock here.
You don't get it.

It's not that Hillary hates Rock, Hope, Music, and Poetry.

Or that she doesn't understand their power, or their resonance.

It's that she dismisses them as unimportant. Except as tactics.

Please don't ask me any more questions. You wanna say something, say it. This isn't Jeopardy.

Except for our future.

4. Lord help us ... now, Steppenwolf is 'deep'
I like rock as much as anyone, but to say Steppenwolf is deep? Puleez. They were stoned, just like the rest of us, back in the day ....

But, is this really the kind of thing we want to base the future of our country on?

Cuz, if you haven't noticed, we're in deep doo-doo - both foreignly and domestically.

6. Actually, I did notice.
Speaking of deep, that's just the kind of trouble we're getting ourselves into.

I often post in the Energy/Environment forum. I have seen the future, and it scared the living hell out of me.

Figuratively speaking. The seeing part, not the fear part -- that was real.

8. It's music, and tonight it's truth.
Back in the day, you may have recognized that music meant more than being stoned. I didn't say it was "deep." I said it was appropriate.

I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now. And being around someone like you, I'm glad of it. Apparently, you are a peer. I am so sorry Hillary is the best you can do.

10. I'm an Edwards supporter ... writing him in all the way
Edited on Fri Mar-07-08 10:45 PM by sjdnb
I don't particularly like either Clinton or Obama - Clinton on lack of judgment, Obama and his supporters on tactics. At this stage, both appear quite ugly choices to me.

On edit: BTW, I responded to the subject line: "That's so deep..." Sorry, for confusing you.

13. Look, sjdnb. I didn't use the term "deep." I just felt the song was appropriate.
Come out and declare your allegiances honestly, but don't put words in my mouth.

Thank you.

14. I did ... Edwards ... if not Edwards, Draft Gore
Edited on Fri Mar-07-08 11:48 PM by sjdnb
Both of the other so-called 'front runners' are just more same old school politicians who are either too ambitious and/or corrupt and/or lack sufficient judgment to dig our country out of the hole we find ourselves in.

Sorry Obama, Sorry Hillary ... Sorry DLC, DNC, and every other D thing ... I don't vote your desires, I vote my conscience. Edwards or Gore - are the only ones who offer any real HOPE of digging us out of the mess we are in now.

BTW - I didn't say you said anything about Steppenwolf being deep ... you interjected yourself into the thread, not me.
