"My take is that Obama's best strategy would be to create a dream ticket with someone like Al Gore, who is the only potential candidate with more national security experience and world profile than Republican nominee John McCain.

If Obama does not get a trophy running mate like Gore -- or perhaps Republican Colin Powell -- he will be forced to step up his attacks on Clinton as she will against him. This will simply provide juicy sound bites for Republican advertising campaigners.

The point is that Clinton is becoming a spoiler. In terms of support, Obama deserves to be the nominee because he has racked up millions more votes in more primaries than she has and almost double what Mc-Cain has generated. He is a new, bright voice and is offering Americans a clear-cut choice between a team looking for new policy ideas and one, such as McCain's or Clinton's, that's simply more of the same, which is, by most accounts, not working very well.

It will be interesting to see what Obama does with this rough stuff.

Al Gore is a hundred times more qualified to be POTUS than BO. Why play second string to a rookie?

I just read that Obama declared that he would not be VP...but I wonder if that applies only to Hillary. Hypothetical: Convention Chaos...for the sake of preserving the Democratic party, Obama agrees to let Gore be the candidate and be his VP. That would be one very difficult ticket to beat!

7. He is 100 times more qualified than Obama in everything but charisma

Gore's always been my first choice, but Obama has the ability to rouse folks to action. Now that someone has put the idea in my head, I'm beginning to wonder if Gore would serve as VP to Obama. He was the most powerful VP in history before Darth Cheney, and I'd guess Obama would involve someone of his stature even moreso than Clinton did. If he wanted to be influential but avoid most of the poison of campaigning, maybe he'd do it.

You make a blanket statement about Obama having millions more votes. That is factually incorrect. In fact, with Fla and Mich. included, he has less, and he has less than a million without those two.

We don't want anymore Clintons, Bushes, and no more Powell, holding up a vial of crystal meth (or whatever it was) at United Nations, telling everybody its a weapon of mass destruction. Please enough of this bandying about the name of this war criminal Colin Powell. Plus, he's a homophobe.
