Is Clinton a Monster For Calling Obama a Drug-Dealing Radical Muslim to Win an Election?
The Clinton camp repeatedly mentioned how proud they were that someone named Barack Hussein Obama was running, released pictures of him dressed in Muslim clothing, spread e-mails saying he came from a radical madrassa, and even Clinton herself said he is not Muslim "as far as she knows" (would she say that about, say, John McCain?).

Speaking of which, she also suggested that it would be better to vote for the Republican candidate than her democratic rival (whom she is proud to have run against, at least during the debates). And your children will die in their sleep if Obama is elected, by the way.

And she tried to suggest that Obama didn't fully "reject" the anti-semitism of Black Muslim leader, Louis Farrakhan - who is invoked every couple of years as a racial boogeyman. Meanwhile, her husband tried to dismiss Obama as Black Militant Boogeyman Jesse Jackson.

Of course, on two separate occasions, two prominent Clinton campaign leaders suggested that Obama could have been a drug dealer in his youth (he is black, after all).

I am sure I am forgetting some of the trashier moments that the Clintons have thrown out there (I just remembered that they likened Obama to Grand Inquisitor Ken Starr, who was strangely fixated on the various ways in which Bill Clinton violated his wife's dignity), but I am sure you get the point.

This has been one of the nastiest campaigns of my lifetime - no, it IS the nastiest campaign of my lifetime. Although Karl Rove suggested that McCain was brainwashed in 'Nam and had illegitimate black babies, I'd say the Clintons have taken it to the next level.

People say I wouldn't mind it if these tactics were used against a Republican, but honestly, I'd rather keep my own dignity in tact and keep denouncing this kind of politics. Howard Zinn powerfully taught me many years ago with his writings to understand that the ends do not justify the means. Part of the reason I am a Democrat and a progressive is because these monstrous tactics are unacceptable and should belong wholly to the Republicans.

Democrats shouldn't burn the village to save it. But the Clinton camp is now hoping to battle to something close enough to a tie in order to have a Party splintering convention show down.

When people say Hillary Clinton is ambitious, it has nothing to do with wanting power (all politicians do). It has everything to do with what she is willing to do to get it.

3. Did You Bother to Read What I Wrote?
While Clinton was only personally involved in some or most of the incidents, the others were almost entirely from people at the highest levels of her campaign. One of two incidents could be accidental, but they add up to a fairly systematic approach to fear-and-smear.

23. She fired the staffers who said those things, just as Obama fired Power
If you're going to attribute so carelessly, you should also say, "Obama called her a monster."

You're attributing everything others say to the candidate, and omitting that those who really said/did those things were severed from the campaign.

6. I wish you Obama supporters would stop the drama queen act
The nastiest campaign you've witnessed? You're either very young, or suffer from amnesia.

This over-the-top outrage over manufactured interpretations of events is really tiresome.

Declaring that the Clinton campaign is worse than Bush's campaign is both ignorant and idiotic.

14. Don't know why you consider me a Clinton supporter
I'm just tired of the incessantly stupid personal attacks I keep reading from rabid Obama supporters. I'd much prefer discussing the candidate's positions on issues.

For example, I disagree with Obama's position on removing the upper limit on income taxed for Social Security. Since the SS maximum monthly payout is fixed, it is unfair to not adjust the monthly payout accordingly.

I likewise disagree with Clinton's position on freezing foreclosure actions for three months, because that isn't going to solve the bigger problem. I don't support a taxpayer bailout of borrowers who took out loans greater than what they could afford, and would greatly resent essentially giving money to people to enjoy a lifestyle they can't afford.

Feeding the media obsession with personalities and focusing on vitriolic personal attacks isn't going to help resolve the serious economic and social issues we have facing us. Every voter needs to understand what the various candidates propose on solving these issues that is most important, not the idiotic, sophmoric name-calling that seems to pass as political dialog lately.

32. Yeah about YOUR candidate's 35 years of experience?
1 years working for the CDF. Rest of her career as a corporate lawyer, got APPOINTED to boards by her hubby, the Governor. And let's not forget her daddy pulling strings for her to get her a job in DC while she was in College. That's not a "woman of substance" by any stretch of the imagination.

10. Give Me a Nastier Campaign Example
Zell Miller may have suggested that Kerry would use spit balls against Muslim terrorists, but not even Dick Cheney suggested that Kerry actually WAS a Muslim terrorist.

Dukakis was accused of letting criminals free to kill your children. What do you think the message behind the 3 am advertisement was?

Bill Clinton was derided for smoking pot, but no one ever suggested he was dealing cocaine.

13. This is the first campaign that involved two minority
candidates to my knowledge.

That would signal to me that they both should take the high road to set an example for the future.

She doesn't know what the high road looks like and it will not be forgotten.

I saw a commentator say last night that MONSTER may be a word that will stick. That would be a shame.

I support Obama but I sure wouldn't want that to happen to anybody ,especially during a campaign such as this one.

That said,"if the shoe fits..."

Hillary was hoping "Muslim" would stick--and "latte-sipper", and "Rezko", and "Farrakhan", and "cocaine", and "Jesse Jackson", etc, etc.

12. I'm Gonna Have to Denounce and Reject This
It's hard to come down on a fellow supporter in your own thread, but botox jokes may not be the way to go. I wasn't crazy about the Kerry as Lurch posts, and I'm gonna have to defend Clinton on this one. I think you'll do more good for Obama without the Munsters (and proto-Goth moms in general).
