Why Do I Get The Feeling That When Obama Wins Wyoming And Mississippi.....
that the press will say - this was expected - and not make a big deal about the wins?

Does this primary race remind anyone of the old 'Tortoise and Hare' story?

1. Are you complaining that they will report the obvious?
Wyoming is a red state caucus.

Mississippi has the largest percentage of black population in the country.

3. So states with heavy AA population don't count now? And...
Since when is it impossible to turn a red state blue?

7. It certainly isn't impossible to turn a red state blue.
Edited on Sat Mar-08-08 12:39 PM by Benhurst
I'm hoping such will be the case with Virginia this year.

North Carolina and Tennessee? Maybe, but highly unlikely.

South Carolina, Alabama, and Mississippi? Maybe, in a generation or so; but I wouldn't hold my breath.

I've always held out hope for Georgia; but my friends who continue to live there say no way.

18. I've always thought Max Cleland fell victim to Georgia's corrupt
electronic voting machines, and some studies done of the election indicate that may have been the case.

But my friends who continue to live in Georgia say whether or not Cleland was cheated out of being re-elected, things from a progressive perspective have gotten worse, not better, in Georgia. That's sad, if correct.

20. Is it at all possible for Hillary to turn
Texas Blue in November? Then if not, why were people giving a shit about the fact she won Texas and why has she gloated over it? If Illinois and Maryland are "states that don't matter" but Texas is, then I say this woman is a delusional piece of work.

Texas is one of those "states that don't matter" so perhaps we should just say that she only "won" (debatable) Ohio and Rhode Island.

And GEORGIA is in FULL PLAY this year.

11. And Obama has won "all-white" states and blue state primaries.
So what ! Obama has won plenty of "all white" states that Hillary (my state of Maine and VT being just two examples), and he has won blue state primaries (i.e. CT and Delaware). Are you saying Hillary can't win red state caucuses at all?? If not, why not? Is that a good thing?
Maybe it's because she's polarizing that they just don't like her?? Did that ever occur to you?? In November, we don't need the Clinton/McAuliffe 20-state, 50%+1 strategy that has marginalized us and made us a second-rate party (until Howard Dean came along). If you are for that, then, like Clinton, you are about THE PAST.

12. Just Saying If The Shoe Were On The Other Foot - Anytime HRC Wins A State.....
they make a big deal about it and we don't hear the end to it. Obama wins 12 in a row and - they are still saying he ONLY won 11 in a row.

For the last 7+ years the media has been an accomplice to GWB's and *Co's lies and manipulations and now they are falling into the same pattern with HRC.

The Repugs, the beltway insiders, the media, the corporations, the money lobby's - don't want change in the government. They want more of the same gravy train. They know that they will get that out of HRC. So their message is - 4 more years, 4 more years, 4 more years.

4. If the 50 delegate block is a real thing
I expect it to drop after one or both of these come to pass.

Despite the wash of last Tuesday in delegates, Clinton was viewed as super winner. If the 50 delegate block dropped then, it would have caused an uproar among the media and those who don't know how, or refuse tp crunch the numbers.

Wins in these two give them cover.

That is my prediction anyways.

23. I don't think it is
I think the 50 superdelegates was designed to help put an end to this thing assuming Clinton didn't win both OH and TX (popular vote). I think since she had a better night than expected they will probably hold off, unfortunately. But I hope I am wrong.

33. I think you are probably right
However, if they want to say ENOUGH! This would be their excuse. Tues was a mathematical wash, despite her wins. With wins in MS and WY they would have cover.

They may also just trickle in.

the press won't ever say a word when it comes out that Obama won more delegates in Texas than Clinton did. The MSM sucks.

If he makes a big deal about it then maybe they will have to take notice.

13. Yes they will. Its like Kerry in 2004. Bush got all the press.
Hillary gets all the press now. Kerry was trashed after the election for allegedly "failing to fight back". I worked on the campaign. He did fight back. He just didn't get the media coverage!

Obama has that same fate right now.

17. They are starting to focus on the number of delegates
on Tim Russert's Saturday show they told him that Clinton cleared maybe 8 delegates from last Tuesday and at the maximum can expect to pick up 10 in PA.

28. No...there isn't a race in Mississippi
65% of the damn voters are Black! Now, I'm not saying he'll blow her out 70-30...it may only be a 10-point win. But he'll win by double digits...bookmark it.

21. yes.
As we all know, it's only a "big win", if it A. a state the 'matters', and B. Hill fights out a narrow win. (where she once held 20+ point leads)

Now THAT'S how you REPORT! ;)

22. Yeah, that's what I am thinking
I think it might be a victory for her if she doesn't lose by 30 points.

On the other hand, that's what I thought would happen with the primaries in February, but it didn't. I just wish there were more primaries between now and PA, since PA will be such an uphill climb.

31. I've come to the conclusion that Obama is going to be trashed
until the bitter end, always depicted in the media as the guy who thinks he can beat Hillary (despite being ahead by a decent margin). All he can do is keep racking up the delegates. I doubt the superdelegates will go against the elected delegate count, but if they do, John McCain will probably be home free. All the new people Obama has brought to the party will go home dejected if the insiders choose the nominee.
