18. I always wondered what was wrong with being young, professionally successful

with specific tastes.

My wife and I get up every morning at 5:30, get my daughter ready, eat some breakfast, and bring her to daycare. I get to my office on mass transit, always before 8am. I pick the little one up at 4:45, go home, cook dinner, maybe watch a little TV, and usually work some more, for maybe an hour or two. I have advanced degrees (for which I lived in virtual poverty until my late-20's), I live in a city, and I belong to professional organizations. I listen to public radio, I don't eat at the Olive Garden or most other chain restaurants, because the food is shit, and I like good food. I don't eat fast food because the industry is shit, and I don't want to support it. I like good coffee, good beer, good wine, and high design furniture. I'm under 35. So all this makes an asshole and elitist? I don't fucking get it, but I'm getting a little fucking sick of it, I'll tell you that.
