6. Nobody, except the OP
Obama is going to win, but the networks won't call it until all the caucuses are finished. They will call races before all the results come in but not while people are still voting.

I love you, Wyoming!! Awesome!

Watching that live caucus from Cheyenne on CNN, I was getting a little tear in my eye. To the non-cynical, it's very Norman Rockwell.

 Wyoming!

20. It is strange how few people vote because of the caucus system.
So about 6,000 people decide for a whole state? What a terrible system that does not encourage participation. I am happy for Obama, but not so happy for the voters.

And the delegates go to the convention. Also, not that many people live in WY and even fewer are Democrats.

41. I've heard than in Wyoming, there are only just over 500,000 people total! So I think this time,
these paltry numbers are real voters, not local-step delegates.

32. How come no one has ever complained
about this system before? Its not like caucuses are a new thing.

And the Clinton were in control for years and could have changed it if it was so bad.

Its only now that her Big State/Super Tuesday strategy has backfired on her so badly that caucuses are suddenly 'un-democratic'

Them's the rules. We'll change them for 2012 if everyone still feels strongly about it, but I have a feeling it will become a non-issue again once this particular election is over.

44. I have a feeling you're right....
Caucuses seemed to be very (d)emocratic in '92 & '96. If we're all honest, a good 90% of us (myself included) didn't even know the difference between caucuses & primaries before this election cycle. I'm sorry, but the Clintons and their supporters have become the whiniest bunch of babies I've ever seen. Let's all change the rules midstream to benefit Hillary.

With all her 35 years of "EXPERIENCE", a couple of hundred million dollar warchest, front loaded primaries, the biggest name in politics; and she's losing to an upstart community organizer who outmaneuvered her at nearly every turn. That kind of "EXPERIENCE" I can live without.

Welcome to DU :hi:

39. LOL --- Empty-State Caucuses: Rotten Boroughs for the 21st Century!
Edited on Sat Mar-08-08 04:43 PM by smalll
LOOK at those numbers -- with 78% reporting:
Barack Obama 4,000 58.6%
Hillary Clinton 2,756 40.4

That's a total of 6,756 votes. At 78% reporting, it's more than fair to say that the TOTAL vote in these cacuses won't top 10,000! And delegates will be apportioned. I read elsewhere here that the O-man might pick up at least 2 over Hillary from this little round up of the tumbleweeds.

And to think, in another state at an opposite corner of the country -- as flat and low as as Wyoming is a Rocky Mountain high -- why, in that state,

170 times that number of people voted.

In that particular 1.7 million-strong roar of the vox populi, not a single delegate will be apportioned, thanks to Dr. Dean's Old Testament justice.

43. 8000 votes in caucus whose chair is for Obama goes majority to Obama in Red state that can not be
blue - ever - as total democratic votes will be about 60,000 in Nov with Obama heading ticket as McCain carries state by high double digits percentage.

Yep - this is a momentum changing result.
