Stopping the Obama vs Clinton AND Clinton vs Obama wars |
|
Edited on Sat Mar-08-08 05:54 PM by melody
This is a futile endeavor, I know, but I'm going to try. Edit: I put my own preferred candidate first and it still got questioned, so I've changed the subject.
With the understanding that ...
1) Being angry about something does NOT mean you're a hater. I was furious with Hillary Clinton over what she has done, but I'd much rather have her in office than John McCain. Obama has done things that Clinton supporters may find objectionable without being called "haters".
2) The continuation and strength of the Democratic Party is more important than our individual personal thoughts and wishes on the candidates and issues.
3) To divide us is to conquer us ...Ergo ...
I'm going to suggest some of the more middle-of-the-road Democratic supporters (and I'm not one) shout down some of the more volatile Clinton/Obama supporters with actual URLs and information to set matters straight.
I wonder if we might agree to an end to name-calling at very least.
I've taken down my icon showing my support because, in the end, the Democratic Party's survival and strength is what is important to me. We need to find middle ground and now.
And yes, I am first cousin to Sisyphus ... thanks for asking.

15. Only if it's considered a war by the supporters |
|
The candidates shouldn't have to fight each other -- and their supporters definitely shouldn't. It's this nonsensical "politics as sports contest" that causes the problem.

I have changed my Avatar to Obama - just to be sure
The worst things being said about Obama are coming from Clinton herself, and her aids - I honestly don't see that McCain is much better than Clinton and if she is the nominee she'll lose
Clinton can't reasonaby challenge McCain on experience, his voting record, foreign policy, Iraq ...If Clinton gets the nod not only will the party not expand, it will narrow. A small group of party insiders abandoning any kind of ideology in favor of Gender alone. I suspect that not only would McCain win but that the House and Senate would be in (R) hands as well.
Obama can at least run a campaign of Hope against a campaign of Fear - create a distinction and broaden the party, plus on his coat tails Dem gains in the House and Senate would be inevitable.
And, more personally I will not vote for Hillary - won't even consider it.

7. If you won't vote for the Democratic nominee -- no matter who he/she is -- you're voting for the GOP |
|
May as well do it honestly and change parties.

I don't think it really matters. Hillary is, in my view, a Republican and she'll lose anyway.

12. Bill Clinton is a conservative Democrat but he was a FAR better President than Bush |
|
It's the preservation of our nation versus its destruction we're talking about here. For that cause, I'll hold my nose and vote Hillary.

I resigned from my DCC over Bill's presidency. I won't even consider a vote for Hillary. I agree that the US is in deep sh*t if McCain wins. I think it's in the same amount of deep sh*t if Hillary wins (it might smell a little better but the results are the same).

Its time to put a stop to the kind of Republican campaign Hillary has run in our primaries.
We need everyone thats tired of this to stop with the "If she wins, I'll vote for her" stuff, as thats what she's expecting.
Win at all costs must have costs, and if it takes saying no, we wont reward her after the way she's behaved then we wont have to worry about future candidates thinking they can get away with campaigning like this.

Except, the final cost must not include giving the game away to the GOP.

Needs to be said over and over again.
Politics, American style, are among the dirtiest in the world. They are noisy and disorganized. All candidates play politics. In the end however, if we, as a party, do not unify, we lose, the nation loses, and the world loses.
