Local Obama supporter shocked to see herself in Hillary ad
07:02 PM PST on Saturday, March 8, 2008
By ELISA HAHN / KING 5 News

<snip>

One of the actors in the Hillary Clinton ad was shocked to see herself, especially because she's a fierce supporter of Barack Obama.

The so-called "red-phone ad" was played all over the country and helped turn the tide for Hillary Clinton leading up to her big win in Ohio. The ad shows a sleeping child and asks voters who they would want to see answering a 3 a.m. emergency phone call to the White House.

<snip>

Thursday night, the Knowles family of Bonney Lake, Wash., watched the Jon Stewart Show and saw the ad for the first time.

<snip>

"I've been campaigning for Barack Obama for a few months now," she said. "I was actually a precinct captain at the caucuses a few months ago. I attended his rally a few months ago and I'm a very, very avid supporter."

Casey Knowles Was Featured Unknowingly in Hillary Clinton's Red Phone Ad

Barack Obama supporter Casey Knowles was featured unknowingly in Hillary Clinton's 3 a.m. ad. (ABC News)

Casey Knowles of Bonney Lake, Wash., was recently watching Jon Stewart lampoon Hillary Clinton's well-known "3 a.m." ads on "The Daily Show" when her brother noticed something.

<snip>

"What I don't like about the ad is it's fear-mongering. I think it's a cheap hit to take. I really prefer Obama's message of looking forward to a bright future," Knowles said. "I think that's a much stronger message."

Since her identity was revealed, Knowles said the Obama campaign has reached out to her and she offered a suggestion.

"I mentioned that we should make a counter ad, me and Obama, against Hillary," she said. "They thought that was really funny. They actually might take me up on it."

she is an Obama supporter and plugged doing another ad for him.

Misleading title.

18. Yeah, Elisa Hahn of King News portrayed her as shocked-
Casey Knowles said it was: "It's really sort of ironic that my image would be used ..."

Casey Knowles said: "I'm just enjoying the irony. I'm an Obama supporter," said the high school senior, who will turn 18 next month, well before the election in November."

I saw her interview and she never said, " I was shocked to see myself..." That: " she was shocked to see herself" was a bit of editorial license by the reporter Elisa Hahn.

25. You better tell the Hillary fans
They are under the impression that Obama wins caucuses because his "thugs" terrify the very fragile near and post-menopausal women in the room! Needless to say, I've never experienced any such fragility of that kind in middle-aged women, but the Hillary supporters swear by this theory. You better tell 'em it doesn't make much sense!

28. Neither bothers me
Nice try, though.

This is a Hillary Fan fantasy, that she loses caucuses because "thugs" intimidate women at the sites. I think it's a rank absurdity, but then, I don't have to invent reasons for Obama losing caucuses, and I would never come up with such a pathetic and laughable excuse for the contests he does lose.

29. So, nothing bothers you ar all, you just make disparaging comments
about women who take an opposite view of the primaries then you?

It's not like this is major theme in the Clinton campaign, it's just schadenfreude.

17. She wasn't shocked she was amused-and it's not her property.
She made an ad when she was eight years old.

She doesn't own the rights to that image.

The picture of her was basically stock footage.

What the op dosen't tell you is that,

http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/story?id=4416390&page=1
>>"An image of an eight-year-old Knowles appears in the ad, shown sleeping soundly in bed.
The Clinton campaign legally purchased the file footage of Knowles from Getty Images."<<

http://www.king5.com/topstories/stories/NW_030708WAB_hillary_ad_KC.328ab14f.html

>>"We think that the young actress in that stock footage who's now supporting us has got sound judgment as to who the strongest commander in chief would be," he said.

The Knowles family admit they have no control over how the footage is used. And while they see the humor of it all, they are mildly annoyed." <<

I saw her interview and she was laughing and then said she was an Obama supporter and offered to feature herself in a "counter ad."

Now that's funny, an actress pitching another gig.

But it's true this seventeen year old girl is an Obama supporter- so that cinches it- everyone should be an Obama supporter because this girl is!

24. Typical of the likes of you to
to dump on a kid who's politically active and suggest that what she's interested in is money. She's been an active campaigner for Obama for months and was a precinct captain. Good for her for being involved. Kind of reminds me of Hillary, who was also involved politically as a teenager- even if it was for Goldwater.

21. Yes it was very shocking to see a Democrat using Fear
Even more shocking I would suppose for that little girl to see herself abused in such a way. A tool for the Clinton fear machine when all she wanted to do was make a commercial for a railroad company.

Shame on you Hillary Clinton!!!!! A democrat should never abuse children to score some cheap political points.
