Poll question: Should what your pastor preaches make you guilty by proxy and in full agreement?

Personally, I go to church when forced to by others during holidays and such. But to the point, is what a pastor says in a speech or on the altar be something that you could be said to believe in by proxy since you are in that place of worship at the time?

1. Well, if I convert to a religion based on my pastor's advocacy of it, and write a book
inspired by my pastor's sermons, attend his church for two decades, and have him preside over my wedding and the christenings of my children, it might be safe to assume that I agree with him on some things.

While I couldn't care less what Wright says and whether Obama likes it or not, I don't think that spin and false analogies will resolve this issue. This is the kind of thing the Republicans specialize in. For them, those videos are manna from heaven.

2. My RW grandfather showed this to me months ago.
This isn't a show-stopper. It's a news cycle. If Obama's campaign is as good as they have been thus far, it will be handled quickly and efficiently.

3. Last I checked, Obama's pastor isn't running for President
Perhaps you've been to a church where a pastor comes in and baptizes your kids. Perhaps you've attended masses where your pastor does the sermon. Perhaps he or she even presided over your wedding.

Great!

So does everything the pastor does and everything the pastor says fully your opinions and your convictions? If your pastor goes to a pro-life rally in Washington DC and speaks out against abortion, are you then pro-life? If your pastor is a child molester, are you? If your pastor speaks out against gay marriage, are you against gay marriage?

The whole "issue" and "argument" is fully a desperate and ultimately futile antic.

4. Well, if your book of "hope" is dedicated to him, and he's on your campaign...
yeah, there might be some strong ties...

5. Actually....
His book is not dedicated to Wright.

He took a phrase he said in a sermon and named the book.

The dedication is actually this:

To the women who raised me--

My Maternal Grandmother, Tutu,
who's been a rock of stability throughout my life,
and
My Mother,
whose loving spirit sustains me still
