4. She said he should run right after Kerry lost in 2004
so she certainly is a "king maker."

Why, do you think, we have had a "Coronation" issue of Newsweek right after Iowa?

And, no, she would not have put her reputation on the line for him had he been white.

5. Unconstitutional
If they are both from Illinois, it is unconstitutional.

If she uses her California address to vote, then perhaps, but I wouldn't be an extra $5 on it.

12. To be technical
It would not be unconstitutional. Illinois electors could not cast a vote for both Obama and Oprah, but any elector from another state could. And even the IL electors could vote for one or the other.

28. IIRC this came up in Bush vs. Gore
Edited on Sat Mar-15-08 10:27 AM by dmesg
The only part of that decision that was unanimous was when the Court said that that clause is not judicable; ie, the courts can't do anything to enforce that on the EC because of separation of powers, since Cheney and Bush were both from Texas (Cheney claimed Wyoming residency but actually lived in Houston).

19. I find this really hard to believe.
I lived on the south side of Chicago for 19 years -5500 South, in the same neighborhood as Obama. The church is 9500 south and there is no easy way to get there, so driving city blocks it can take you most of an hour. I highly doubt that Obama and his family were regular attenders, and I really, really doubt that Oprah is. Its not a great neighborhood. When Oprah wants spiritual nourishment, she buys a person and flies them in, she doesn't go to church.

22. She's attended services there. And yes, she wasn't a regular attendee.

*snip*

Mr. Wright’s church, the 8,000-member Trinity United Church of Christ, is considered mainstream — Oprah Winfrey has attended services, and many members are prominent black professionals. But the church is also more Afrocentric and politically active than standard black congregations.

20. Anne Coulter to be named as Hillary's running mate

Well, it could happen.

Actually, it couldn't happen, not in the real world. And the same goes for Oprah.

So go find something more useful to do with your time, like sleeping.
