After the ANGST of the 60's and 70's which brought AMERICA FORWARD...the country needed a "rest" to re-energize. So...that POS Reagan got in ...by trashing Carter over his religion, his inexperience in canceling the Olympics, wearing sweaters in the WH while he "turned out lights" to show his support for ENERGY CONSERVATION. He was THROWN OUT...over Iran Hostages, Olympics and Wearing Sweaters. American People were so TIRED they voted for REAGAN...

Reagan gave us ....."A FEELING OF WEALTH".....a "New Morning in America" (rhetoric) after the strife of Nixon years and Carter's "doom and gloom." REAGAN and his SUPPLY SIDERS "re-negotiated" the American Economy with DE-REGULATION...and many benefitted from it for a time. UNTIL THE BUSHIES! (pause, for Clinton interim) but he was just a "FIRE WALL" in the whole process.

SO...we are looking for a NEW PRESIDENT! One who will ROLL BACK ..NIXON, BUSHIES, CLINTON II and which Candidates do we END UP WITH?

OBAMA...and CLINTON.

So..tell me what this BIG OBAMA MOVEMENT is going to do for AMERICAN CITIZENS?

 I don't think either one of them have a "CLUE" how do deal with the enormity of America's Financial Break Down, btw. :-(

I'm curious... who do YOU think has such a clue?

Who would you like to see elected as President this year?

3. Ron Jr.?? I'll Take Him.
I rather like him.

Not sure what your post had to do with Obama. I thought his plans were quite similar to Hillary's except that he added hope. Are you saying, the same plan without hope is better?

7. I'd Call That Quite Politically Savvy Of Him
although I don't think he has any political motivations.

I used to know him (through a mutual friend) in high school. Really quiet and rarely got to go home (boarding school). Very happy to see how he turned out.

5. Honestly...
I think people are truly looking for change. And they do not have the stomach for 4 or 8 more years of the Clintons, imo. They are sick of DLC politics and triangulation. And they feel that Barack Obama offers the most hope to get our country out of the war and out of the mess we now find ourselves. They do not think he is a savior. Their instincts tell them that he is the best person for the job.

8. but...what I worry about is that it's "false hope/fake dreams."
And it's not about Obama or his qualities...it's that THE SYSTEM...is IN PLACE and it will turn him into Clinton II...

He's already being compromised.... and by the time he wins the Presidency he will be as compromised as the DLC did to Clintons and the "Powers that Be" did to Carter.

That's what I'm saying. But...there are so few DU'ers still here on DU who remember the HISTORY...I'm just "pissing in the wind" with this post urging folks to THINK...THINK...THINK..

I've been clear...I'm neither an Obama nor Clinton Supporter....but watching this all unfold...it's very distessing.......for someone whose been through so many elections and heard so MANY SPEECHES and so MANY PROMISES...that have been BROKEN.

I haven't heard "POLICY PROMISES" from OBAMA....maybe he's "hedging his bets" with his "Hope & Change."

BUT...I HAVE heard Promises from Hillary....but could I believe I'd be able to "hold HER FEET to the FIRE?"

I don't see HOPE FOR CHANGE with EITHER Obama or Clinton. I'm just one of those folks the Pollsters Call an "Outlier," thought. Even though I've voted DEM for so many DECADES ....Involved in Party...Precinct Co-Chair for Kerry...whatever. Don't have a voice...7 years on DU...don't have credentials...whatever... This is OUR DEM PARTY...or SOMETHING ELSE! Which is it????

11. He does have those appealing qualities...but in these dire times...
is something besides "appealing qualities" necessary? That's what worries me. And that both Obama and Clinton have so much baggage.

I was hoping to hear from Obama Supporters on this post...as to what he would do to "break the cycle" but it's very quiet. I think this post is supposed to go to Archives "quickly."

12. That was the "HOPE," I think and a good one..but give the dire straights America is in

it's got to have good Follow Up with POLICY CHANGES. Clinton has done a better job in her speaking about this than Obama, imho. And...I'm not for either one. But, seeing both of them bogged down over Racism, Gender and Ageism isn't going to win us the election in 2008 because Americans want ACTION and not REHASH of the 60's wars over "Gender, Ageism and Racism."

I wonder if Karl Rove wrote the Dem Playbook for this election ...sometimes in nightmares.
