I've never said it was a weekend story. However, I don't think the Wright thing will do in Obama. Polls don't really reflect that. It's little hilly that you need the violins for, dearie. And the fork. Stick it in her. She's done. Over. Finished. So sorry for you hillybots. Not.

she released that commercial implying that Richards would support her even after being asked specifically by two of Richards' sons not to do so. The Clinton response was "Will you sue us if we do?"

|
....is the obvious glee that you have over the idea that Obama could be taken down because of things his black pastor said to his black congregation, stemming from the great pain that he and his generation endured in the still separatist environment of the 60s. The idea that a strong politician who has the support of millions of democrats could be taken down by something like the words his pastor said is downright appalling, and if it happens, it's an indictment on our country.

|
I have two daughters without insurance who could face death or at the very least financial ruin under a McCain presidency if they get seriously ill or have an accident, even a small one. I fight for them.
Obama WILL NOT BE elected president of the United States. He fucked himself by staying in a church with a radical batshit crazy preacher and a racist charter for TWENTY YEARS. You don't have a mentor without having some clue what that mentor is about. He knew Wright was unseemly and that is WHY Obama dis-invited him to speak when he announced for president. He did this to himself. Externalizing the blame only makes it worse.
Obama cannot win our nomination, because if he does, we all loose, and the defeat . . . that, will indeed be biblical.

Do you seriously think McCain can use this sort of stuff with the associations he's made in the church? Those people have said MUCH worse things. Go that route would open Pandora's box and would be suicide for McCain.
I'm sorry, I think you really misread the impact of this. Everyone has had close friends that have said something they don't agree with. People aren't going to abandon Obama because of something his pastor said. They're just not.
Just watch. His poll numbers will be right where they were before, within a month.

As far as Wright, no, it doesn't have legs nor wheels nor any other kind of motive device.
Nor does it matter. Obama is already the nominee.
Can you all give up on hoping for something to destroy our nominee and start to work together for the greater good in November and beyond?
I'll start hoping that Clinton can save her Senate seat.

41. My prediction is that Obama's speech will be Tuesday's big political story. |
|
Edited on Mon Mar-17-08 11:52 PM by nsd
The speech -- not the Wright videos -- will dominate Tuesday's evening news, Wednesday's cable news shows, and Sunday's talk shows.
Then it will be over. And, depending on how well the speech goes, Obama might even be in a better position than he was before -- because he'll have gotten this stuff out of the way and reminded people that he's the national politician best positioned to break America free of identity politics.

Outside of the bloggesphere, this story is moving out of the news cycle already. If he wanted this story to die, he could just let it fade. His speech, on the other hand, will put the story front and center back in the news cycle. And he knows that. If you ask me, he's using this incident as an opportunity to address racial divide in the country, and as opportunity to get back to his message of unity.
