I say we get rid of every politician that ever had an affair,
or hired a prostitute, ever even tried to solicit sex with someone not his/her spouse, ever used drugs, ever said anything critical of the good old US of A, was ever given any money by someone who was later convicted of a crime, or can be accused of any kind of "guilt by association."

Of course, we wouldn't have a government left. But, hey, that would probably be a good thing.

To the Obama supporters: Ferraro said what she said, not Clinton.

To the Clinton supporters: Wright said what he said, not Obama.

Anyone who believes that Clinton is racist based on comments by Ferraro hasn't been awake. Anyone who believes that Obama is a racist who hates America based on what his pastor said hasn't been awake.

The vitriol is tearing the party apart. I'm to the point that I'm seriously considering sitting out the GE, not because of the candidates, but because of some of the rhetoric coming from some of their supporters.

Jesus, save us from some of your followers.
Sen. Clinton, save us from some of your supporters.
Sen. Obama, save us from some of your supporters.

We're going to hand this election to John McCain, and in the end the only people we will have to blame is ourselves---not Clinton, not Obama, US!

7. I call BS ! !
Why can't/shouldn't we hold our leaders accountable for their actions? You wanna run for public office? You better deserve it.
If you are a crook, liar, or a cheat.....tough luck. You made the choice....live with it. You don't deserve my vote and you damned sure don't deserve to hold public office. You screw up, you lose....period!

I hate crooks, I hate liars, I hate cheats. And yes, I am squeaky clean. Never been arrested, never stole anything. My biggest transgression....traffic tickets, and they are few!

Go ahead and let them skate if you like. I think people like Bush and Cheney should be in prison, and probably half of congress, too. If you do anything while holding a public office that is not in the best interest of the American citizens...you're out!

I was raised to be honest, trustworthy and compassionate, and I wear my history as a badge of honor. If everyone lived by my standards, there would be no crime, no injustice.

I am not naive, I know it's fantasy to believe all could live by these standards. But, if I can, you can. And, I believe my success is a direct result of those standards and my willingness to adhere to them.

One of our biggest problems in politics today is accountability and transparency. Overlooking these things for one politician means you must overlook them for all. That aint me! Don't ask Jesus to help you, do it yourself!

When I get out of prison...........

20. I don't blame Hillary for Geraldine Ferraro.
I blame Geraldine Ferraro for her own horribly ignorant comments. For all the crap Hillary has pulled during her campaign, I still have love for the Clintons somewhere--and I can't bring myself to call them racists.

23. Yea, but have the Clinton supporters ever said the Obama people ENGINEERED the Ferraro fiasco?
Edited on Tue Mar-18-08 08:46 AM by Perry Logan
Some Obamites--always willing to smear a Democrat--like to say the evil Clinton people created the Wright affair, as part of the nefarious dirty politics and corruption of the Clinton tribe that only Clintophobes can see. I'm pretty sure the Hillary supporters would do nothing of the kind.

I see marked similarities between Obama supporters and conspiracy theorists. They see a lot of secret hanky-panky that I don't think is there.

34. And both candidates have distanced themselves from the respective speakers
That's the right thing to do. Both issues should have been dropped as soon as that. Both candidates should be defended by both candidates' supporters from continued right-wing attacks. They shouldn't be repeated.

Both candidates are getting some genuine Republican and Independent support. Obama's votes and delegates are no less valid for getting more crossover support than Clinton.

It is Rush Limbaugh urging Republican mischief by supporting Hillary. To hold that against Clinton plays right into their strategy. As far as I'm concerned, Clinton said it best that Rush should "be careful what you wish for." I would be VERY upset if Republican mischief defeated Obama for the nomination. The best revenge at that point is to put Hillary in the White House. Neither one of them are getting in if we continue to let them divide us and keep dividing ourselves.

We should start a list of right wing smears for both candidates that have no place on DU. Here's a few items that I feel have no place here:

Clinton's looks, clothes, hair, the sound of her voice.
Monica Lewinsky, impeachment, Vince Foster.
Hussein Obama/Osama/is a Muslim/educated in a Madrasa/innuendo with pictures of diplomatic events
Cult references
Obama's drug use
Concern trolling about unelectability.
Fearmongering
Endorsing a Republican nominee's qualifications a Democratic candidate
Dismissing black voters as if they only vote by race and not qualifications
Dismissing women voters as if they only vote by sex and not qualifications

They have no place here.

Right wing sources that attack Democratic candidates have no place here.

Trashing loyal Democrats and liberals has no place here. KO, Paul Krugman, Rachel Maddow, Joe Wilson, John Lewis, have always spoken the truth. They haven't changed; you just disagree. Maybe they do have a point worth considering.

Some are fair game, e.g. Ferraro, Shuster, but when it's over, it should be over for good. Perpetual snark continuing a months-old controversy already addressed has no place here.

Always enjoy seeing your posts, Buc. :hi:
