Imagine if Hillary Clinton announced loudly and strongly that this Wright issue was nonsense. |
|
The controversy would end immediately. And, she might actually get some African-American votes in the remaining primaries and in November if she wins the nomination.
That would show an aspect of her character that has been missing.

...HONESTY. Hillary is a basically dishonest person because her ego gets in her way and she has to see EVERYTHING not as it is but spun in a light into which it benefits her one way or another.

So should Clinton. In fact, Obama has done it for Clinton. That's the reason I posted yesterday asking if anyone in the press has asked her that question.
I hope the moderator of the next debate asks it of Clinton. We'll see the character of the candidates in their response to this bullshit.

But at this point, she couldn't care about the Black vote anyway...and she's probably so happy this is happening.

28. Blacks abandoned the Clintons for Obama months ago. |
|
As far as this election goes, there's probably nothing that Hillary could do to get back those voters. Blacks are voting for Obama at a rate of 76% in SC to 91% in MS.
She might as well concentrate in attracting the other voters: whites, hispanics, asians, etc.

10. Hold Clinton to a different standard. Where was Obama when his |
|
campaign was calling Clinton racist? He was feeding the frenzy. He waited until after SC before saying anything.
Double standard on DU.
And, if you have been watching Clinton and her campaign--she has again and again refused to talk about it and said it is a non-issue. She has been the bigger person. Obama has played politics all along.

32. Yep, demanding that Hillary be gracious, but where was Obama |
|
when both Clintons were crucified for remarks that were not intended to be racist? I never heard Obama say that he knew the Clintons well and that he knew that they weren't racists.
As for Wright, what he said about Bill from the pulpit and what he said about Hillary on Christmas day (of all days to spew venom), was disgraceful.
The Clinton campaign has done well by not touching this issue with a 10' pole.

As far as many of us are concerned, Obama threw the Clintons under the bus in SC. Bill's "fairy tale" remark was not racist, he probably would have used it against a white opponent. Hillary saying that MLK's dreams became a reality when LBJ signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was historically accurate and not racist.
The media fanned the race flames and Obama didn't say one word in the Clintons' defense. He knew better, Hillary had campaigned for him, raised funds for him, by his own admission he had modeled his first year after hers and he also sought her advice. So, he KNEW that they weren't racists and yet, not only didn't he say a word in their defense, his campaign pushed a talking points memo that Russert waved at him in one of the debates. That's at the point that Obama lost me forever, if he becomes the nominee I will not vote for him.

The ONLY reason she will not -- the singular justification for not addressing it -- is because her ambitions supercede the unity of this party and the healing of this country. That is the only explanation, and it has been demonstrated in every aspect of her campaign.

And nobody seemed to think that was a good idea. I figured it would be a pretty good shot to help Clinton get a lot of black Americans back on her side. If this issue sinks Obama's campaign she's going to have a hard time with that constituency unless somebody does a LOT of damage control.
