Edited on Tue Mar-18-08 02:56 PM by MrCoffee
"McCain, the senior Republican on the Senate Armed Services Committee, was accompanied by Sens. Joe Lieberman, an independent from Connecticut, and Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., two top supporters of his presidential ambitions."

EDIT: NOT to say that I think McCain will win the general, but more along the lines of Lieberman actively campaigning for him.

2. He wouldnt need to switch partys
He's already self classified as an independant, and theres no rules that states a President cant have cabinet members from outside his party.

6. He doesn't need to switch...
...McCain could even claim to be "bipartisan" by including Lieberman. Those who think more wars are good, and those that think more wars are GREAT!

7. If he's going to start "caucusing" with the GOP
he better do it now. Once the smoke settes from the elections, no matter who becomes the president, the Senate is likely to be firmly in Democratic hands. He won't have that all important swing vote power going on anymore, he'll be one of a hundred again.

Maybe, he shifts over now and helps W. get some of those right wing nominees into fedral judgeships, helps get some really draconian "anti-terrorism" bills in and signs off on a war with Iran. he won't have a beter chance to write his own ticket than right now.

9. If he's going to switch, now is the time
Regardless of who wins the election, he can write his own ticket, but not for long. Before he becomes one of a hundred after Nov. '08, he could turn the Senate over to Bush right now and after helping him get some more right wingers on the federal bench and assit in pushing through some really draconian "anti-terror" bills, he can get his ultimate wish to start a war with Iran. He would become a hero to the Israeli right wing forever.

10. Oh, I think McCain will offer Lieberman the VP spot.
I've been saying it for awhile now. Just my Wild Ass Guess... but if I'm right, you read it here first! :D

11. never would get vp, but might well get a cabinet spot
Lieberman is a moral midget, particularly on the war, but he has a strong pro-choice record (100 percent from NARAL in 2007) and has voted in ways that are anathema to repubs, such as opposing a flag desecration amendment to the constitution, etc. He is much more likely to get a cabinet post in a McCain administration since that would allow the Connecticut governor, who is a repub, to appoint a repub to fill the vacancy until 2010.

12. Yeah, but McCain likes him,
and it's exactly the sort of bipartisan master stroke that he'd think of to puff up his campaign. I mean, the hardcore repubs already hate McCain, what's to lose? You have to admit, it would cause quite a splash. :D

Believe me, they are unenthusiastic about McCain as it is.

14. That would work out well
The Republicans already gave us a hand up on making fun of him.

Remember? "Sore/Loserman '00"

So I guess "McLame/Loserman '08"?
