Like many DU'ers, I was for Kucinich before I was for Edwards before I was for Obama |
|
It was disappointing for me to witness both of these principled men leave the race. But I am reminded of a line from a speech delivered by Kurt Holzer of Idahoans for Edwards at the huge caucus in Boise, Idaho on Super Tuesday: "If we Edwards Democrats cast a recaucus ballot tonight for Senator Clinton or Senator Obama we will cast that ballot with some sadness but not regret. We will cast it proudly, because we are proud to be Democrats."
I must admit, I had both sadness and regret when Edwards suspended his campaign.
But I have only optimism, hope for America, and the sense of a changing era on this day for supporting our next president, Barack Obama.

1. I went from Kucinich to No candidate to Obama |
|
Seeing him up close and personal in Boston sealed it up for me the night before Super Tuesday. :)
Nice post, thank you. :pals:

5. I was Clark, Edwards, Obama |
|
Obviously Clark was never a candidate. Dennis is incredible but I know the society we live in would never elect him.

and was pretty upset that he never got in the race. Then I went briefly to Biden or Dodd. Ended with Obama by default (Hillary has always been last on my list). After studying his history and qualifications, I was content. After seeing his M.O. thruout this campaign I've been quite happy to have him as my candidate. After today's speech I see him as potentially one of our greatest presidents.

11. Of course Gore would have been the runaway favorite |
|
as the brazillions of Gore threads back then attest. But Maureen Dowd said it best: "Democrats are blessed with an embarrassment of riches in candidates. Republicans just have the embarrassment."

12. MSM labeled Kucinich as a nut case and ignored Edwards; |
|
till he faded away. The only two people who would help end corporate fascism. It really leaves you no choice but Obama. After his speech today I was blown away, to think that someone would not vote for this man because of his race is loathsome.

14. Timmy should have been given a pink slip after posing the infamous UFO question |
|
And then using the same tactic by bringing up Dodd's position on marijuana decriminalization as if it made him out to be a dope fiend.

And today my reluctant support for Barak Obama became far less reluctant and far more enthusiastic. I was actually floored by the depth and intensity of the speech he gave today. For the first time he reached me with his words and convinced me that he understands our situation.
