ABC News: Clinton Doesn’t Deny Campaign is Pushing Wright Story to Superdelegates

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/03/clinton-doesnt.html

ABC News' Eloise Harper Reports: Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's campaign has strictly maintained a public position not to comment on Sen. Barack Obama's relationship with Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Many times, questions have been answered with -- "you will have to ask Senator Obama about that."

However at a Thursday press availability in Terra Haute, Indiana after a report surfaced that the Clinton campaign was pushing the Wright story to superdelegates arguing that the relationship hurt Obama's electibility -– Clinton refused to deny that her campaign was pushing the story.

When asked, Clinton ignored the Wright portion of the question and said “well my campaign has been making the case that I am the most electable that I have said that for a year or more that I am the person best able to make the challenges that our country faces as commander in chief.”

When Clinton was then asked specifically if her campaign was pushing the Wright story –- she shrugged and took the next question, ignoring the reporter.

48. She won't win in November no matter what.
Even if she could get the nomination, and even if she could get it fairly--which are respectively nearly impossible and totally impossible at this point--how many people out of the Democratic base are going to turn out? Those so-called "latte" liberals? Black people? Not after the shit the Clinton camp has said. The anti-war crowd? No admission that the war vote was a mistake. And then she'd be beaten senseless by McCain on the subject of "experience." The Republicans would point out all the lies and distortions about her "experience" as First Lady that Obama's too nice to. The only thing McCain would have to avoid is dropping dead during a debate.

I can't imagine why some people still don't recognize that Clinton is the Republicans' only hope of keeping the White House. Why else do they think Limbaugh and company are running a campaign for her?

I will tell you why, the democrates of the middle will not vote for him. Thus he will not win.

62. Your "Middle" Democrats do not exist
They and YOU are CONSERVATIVE Democrats.

Big Difference.

Obama's insurgency is a direct result of your pro-war, pro-corporate DNC, DLC oppression of the Democratic Base, complicity with corruption and lies.

WE are opposed to needless WAR and Corruption in Congress and the White House. WE are the middle and the MAJORITY.

YOU, are a pseudo-centrist.

Your centrism is a direct function of corruption.

10. What is fascinating to me is that HilBilly is willing to write off
a significant portion of the Dem base - the African-American vote - solely in the pursuit of power. If the superdelegates throw the nomination to HilBilly in Denver even if Obama comes to the convention with leads in votes, pledged delegates and number of states won, I predict that most black voters will stay home in November and may leave the Dem party for good.

46. but it shouldn't surprise you
Clinton is pro-war, pro-megapharm, pro-corporate 100%

A mild progressive like Obama makes her look like a Republican.

Clinton is not grasping for personal power, despite appearances.

She is running on behalf of the DLC's corporate gravy train.

If McCain wins, she STILL wins... and the money keeps flowing.

if their campaign believes this is the issue to take him down and she gets the nomination, She can't win the G.E. The AA community will be resentful because whatever white -america thinks about the Wright affair, within the AA community there is lot of truth to his words. The large #'s of AA voters will be put off and for a Dem nominee to win, we need a large AA turn-out.

Released 4 pages of 'supposed racist remarks' by her 'supposed supporters/campaign workers' to the press,

as revealed by Tim Russert in early debate,

which Obama admitted and said he regretted.

Without the press as much as batting an eye.

38. Superdelegates are generally smart, ambitious, knowledgeable people who don't
watch Hannity and then ditto his insanity. They are going to know that the Wright story is not as much about Obama as it is about Wright AND about those who use these kinds of polarizing issues to gain political traction. They know a good, important speech when they hear it and I bet the vast majority aren't in the least concerned that Obama really shares Wright's anger. This is a media and campaign creation. Superdelegates who already are fervently pro-clinton may parrot the Hannity outrage for political reasons but I highly doubt they believe it.

73. I'm getting REALLY close (SHOULD she find a way to 'win' this) to NOT being able to vote for her
NEVER thought I would say this and it isn't a done deal yet but if she somehow pulls this out, I will have to think LONG AND HARD about pulling a lever for her.

I don't think she will win the nomination but if somehow she does, if she does it doing this shit I don't know if I can do it. This could be an historic election for Matcom. One in which he stays home.

76. Ain't gonna happen.
However, she might be able to shit on Obama enough to cost him the general. That's gotta be her strategy at this point.
