Wow...the Obama supporters are HAPPY his passport was accessed |
|
Reading the threads here on DU, the Obama supporters are positively salivating and orgasmic that his passport was accessed.
Just read one thread where the OP said "Dare we say President Obama."
So it's ok that his passport was accessed, as long as it means your wettest dream comes true---him being President.

If the passport file of a Presidential candidate can be breached THREE times before higher-ups are notified, then what the hell does that mean for the rest of us?
It sounds like these "contract workers" have the ability to pour through our personal information for shits and giggles, without the slightest concern of being reprimanded.
Is that something you find acceptable from your government?

Thanks for classifying all Obama supporters as one single group with the exact same thoughts and ideas! That was super useful of you!
I'm angry about this. I'm angry that this man's privacy was violated, that his civil liberties were violated. I would be just as angry if it had happened to Hillary Clinton or you myself or to you. To imply that all Obama supporters are happy about this because they supposedly think it will all but assure the Presidency for him is, in no other words, complete bullshit. If this was a case of three curious people simply looking up information about Barack Obama, that's one thing. If this is something more sinister involving the stealing of private, confidential information of a front-running Presidential candidate, that's another thing entirely.
Don't lump us all into one group. I'm sure you don't like it when you get lumped into groups with people who misrepresent your views. Don't do it.

26. I need to give a personal perspective regarding passport files being accessed |
|
Almost thirty-one years ago, I started in the USG as a GS-3 File Clerk - at the State Department, in the Washington, DC Passport Office. At that time, passport applications were filed by hand in five-drawer file cabinets. All of the clerks had a quota we had to meet daily in order to get promoted to the next GS level: File a ten-pound box of passport applications (not as easy as it sounds).
Every passport form completed from around the country - and around the world - comes to the D.C. office, and quite a few of them are from celebrities who either request that theirs be mailed to their business managers or their personal assistants. I can't begin to tell you how many celebrities' applications I filed during my two-and-a-half year stint in the Passport Office (Cher's comes to mind -she was married to Greg Allman at the time - they were traveling to Japan, if memory serves). In mid-1978, the files went from being filed to microfiched, and the information was typed into a central computer. I went from being a file clerk to a data entry operator (now one of the aforementioned jobs converted to contractor positions).
As an aside: The Federal Government doesn't use Halliburton to fill administrative/clerical jobs in non-DoD positions. The clerks are most likely from a local temp agency that probably won't get another contract from State!
There was a special section of file cabinets set aside for passport requests for public officials, everyone from Members of Congress to mayors. Except for a select group of people who received special clearances to access those files, they were strictly off-limits to everyone else.
I might be wrong here, but I have a hunch that the three people who pulled Senator Obama's files were overzealous admirers who thought they wouldn't get caught. Unfortunately for them they did, and now it's Page One news.
Of course, it could be completely nefarious and politically-motivated, but I doubt it in this case.

Do you not realize that they have probably breached HILLARY'S PERSONAL FILE AS WELL?
There needs to be an investigation.
Someone blew this whistle for a reason. I think there is more to uncover, and while the breach in Obama's file is what leaked to reporters, I don't believe for a second that he's the only one that they've been spying on NOR that they've only recently been doing this sort of snooping.
This goes back to Kerry's candidacy and maybe even earlier. This is a serious situation which merits an investigation.

"Passport was accessed" is the strangest euphemism for sex I've ever heard of. :sarcasm: I prefer "polling the electorate" myself.
I read several posts, proclaiming that this wasn't a big deal, by *some* Hillary supporters. As an Obama supporter, I guess I missed out on the big orgasm, because, I, as should all Americans, see this breech is a testament to how our Government has run amok, with secrets, spying and contracting out our most personal information to who knows. How do know that this breech hasn't happened to Senator Clinton as well? I can guarantee if that's the case, I'd be just as outraged.
