I hope Arizona doesn't become this election's Ohio |
|
In 2000, Gore lost Ohio by 3 percent or so, after pulling his resources away from the state in the final weeks.
This election, I think Arizona has the potential of being the same way. Right now, polls have a small lead for Bush, but it looks like that gap is tightening.
So is it possible to win this state? I think Clinton won it once (I'm not sure which time). Another state that has some potential is Arkansas.
At first I was thinking the only real states Kerry had a chance of picking up were Florida, New Hampshire, and Ohio. That too, I wasn't sure if I even trusted Florida because of Jeb.
Now, it looks as though Kerry has a better chance in several states which went red in '00.

1. Arizona voted Prez Clinton twice by large margin... |
|
Not only did Arizona voted for Clinton for his first election by a large margin, Arizonas voted for Clinton for his re-election. It was surprising because Goldwater was still alive, McCain was the favorite Senator, and democrats didn't have many local officials in office.

2. I just checked the numbers |
|
Apparently Clinton didn't win it the first time.
He won it when he was reelected by some two percent. Either way I think we have a chance at the state.
1992: Clinton: 543,050(36.5%) Bush: 572,086 (38.5%)
1996:
Clinton: 653,288 (46.5%) Dole: 622,073 (44.3%)
