another realm. This is this craziest primary I've EVER seen.

_______________

Driving conservatives crazy?

-snip--

MCCAIN: I think that when people support you, it doesn't mean that you support everything they say. Obviously, those words and those statements are statements that none of us would associate ourselves with, and I don't believe that Sen. Obama would support any of those, as well.

HANNITY: He's been — but he's been going to the church for 20 years. His pastor — the church gave a lifetime achievement award to one of the biggest racists and anti-Semites in the country, Louis Farrakhan. Would you go to a church that — where your pastor supported Louis Farrakhan?

MCCAIN: Obviously, that would not be my choice. But I do know Sen. Obama. He does not share those views.

And we get sometimes — I don't — a lot of those statements I've just heard for the first time that you mentioned. But I know that, for example, I've had endorsements of some people that I didn't share their views...

1. "Don't make me hug you"

Would this be considered an endorsement of Senator Obama by McCain? (kidding)

5. Well, here is the explanation:
"And we get sometimes — I don't — a lot of those statements I've just heard for the first time that you mentioned. But I know that, for example, I've had endorsements of some people that I didn't share their views..."
McCain figured out that people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

45. I meant publically.
It sure would have been a nice gesture on her part...in the spirit of friendly competition....not to mention party unity....to have a few nice words to say about Obama's speech. Even McCain has been supportive publically! Proving that you can be a political opponent and respectful at the same time. Besides, it would really help Hillary to do so. I would think just about any politician in her position would do so. Oh well, nothing surprises me with Hillary anymore....

35. NO. McCain has crazy pastors in HIS closet, too. It was a NEUTRALIZING remark.
Hey, don't come after me for mine, because I didn't come after you for YOURS.

It's POLITICS 101, that.

It WILL haunt Obama, though. Swiftboaters will play that GOD DAMN AMERICA US of KKKA tape over and over again, and McCain will 'tsk tsk' and decry the ads--after they've run in HEAVY rotation.

43. No, it means that if any of those fringe support groups try
to bring this up in the GE, if they try to swiftboat him, you will find these words of McCain used in the prompt response.

Obama isn't going to go the route of attacking the pastors - he may attack their positions or back McCain into denouncing the positions in debates, but McCain just neutralized all the Wrighthatemania from those who haven't a clue what they are talking about - from those who use sound bites to form opinions.

I've met McCain. He sold most of his soul to the devil but
still has a few tattered scraps of decency left. I think
he still wants to believe in himself as a decent man,
whereas Georgie boy was perfectly happy shoving firecrackers
up frogs' asses and hasn't advanced one jot from that stage
of "moral development".

he kept saying there isn't a bill, finally he said look it is dead you helped kill it, we have to secure the border first

then they laughed

Also on the war, he has 2 sons serving in Iraq or Afghanistan, so he has a lot at risk personally

17. McCain is an honorable man
Edited on Fri Mar-21-08 01:11 AM by The Traveler
Had he won the Republican nomination in 2000, he probably would have been President ... and we would be in a lot better shape today. 9/11 might still have happened ... maybe. But I suspect a McCain administration would have thwarted it.

Still, he is just totally wrong for this moment in our history. I admire him for his candor, and I think his defense of Obama illustrates the positive qualities of his character. But if he now wins the Presidency, I am certain it would spell disaster for America.

Me, I'm glad the Wright thing happened. Obama's speech on the matter of race has dissolved my lingering doubts about the man. He is the right person for this moment in our history. America needs Obama to be President.

** On Edit ... when will I ever learn? Always run spell check FIRST!!! **
