Obama camp: Clinton would be 'deeply flawed' nominee

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/

(CNN) — The Obama campaign launched some of its sharpest attacks to date on Hillary Clinton's candidacy Friday, telling reporters on a conference call that the New York senator is a dishonest politician who has consistently misled voters.

Referencing a new Gallup Poll suggesting 53 percent of Americans don't view Clinton as trustworthy, Obama campaign manager David Plouffe said Clinton would be a "deeply flawed nominee," and suggested it would be "nearly impossible" for her to win a general election. "She is not seen as trustworthy by the American people," Plouffe said. "She has consistently in this campaign engaged in political calculation to mislead voters….It will nearly be impossible to win a general election if more than half the electorate thinks you're untrustworthy."

If Sen. Clinton wants to have a discussion about electability and vetting, we're happy to have it," Plouffe also said. "She would be a deeply flawed nominee. There are char acter issues here that will cause us real problems in the fall."

That's quite a well-respected "dog", spreadin' those fleas around Pennsylvania Avenue.

26. Look at how many people thinks she is untrustworthy, and how often she has lied?
Edited on Fri Mar-21-08 01:57 PM by Drachasor
All indications is that she lies more and the public knows it. That IS a problem.

You bring up Mark Penn, but who does he work for? Clinton! She keeps him there, and decisions like that are what is hurting her.

Edited on Fri Mar-21-08 01:56 PM by sudopod
For example, he pushed hard to ensure that the debates were released under a Creative Commons license, if I'm remembering correctly.

It's a gnu style of politics. ^_^

10. yeah, and obigot's speech tuesday verified that he told a damn
lie and Obigot contradicts a year of denial. Obama said the only thing controversial he knew about Rev. Wright was his stand on issues relating to Africa, abortion and gay marriage. …

Obigot's initial reaction to the initial ABC News broadcast of Rev. Wright’s sermons denouncing the U.S. was that he had never heard his pastor of 20 years make any comments that were anti-U.S. until the tape was played on air.

But Tuesday, he told a different story. “Did I ever hear him make remarks that could be considered controversial while I sat in church? Yes,” he said in his speech Tuesday in Philadelphia.

and the whoremedia side steps this part so they can tell all that buys into this bs that obigot's sppech was better then Jesus' sermon on the mount.

44. when you say 'unify' you really mean 'divide' . . .
Edited on Fri Mar-21-08 03:32 PM by bigtree
. . . dump the Clinton campaign over. But, do you have the support of the folks who voted for her? Is really going to be 'with us or against us'? That may be well and good for the folks who post here. We should put up our votes for the nominee in the end, or shut up. But we will still be subject to the effect of folks who voted for Clinton sitting on their hands if the Obama camp doesn't make some outreach, at some point. I think it's foolish arrogance to assume that only Obama voters can feel scorned.

Oh, and, it ain't time yet for any quitting.

Obama the divisive figure. Not universally of course because there are plenty of sane people about.
There is something ironic about the effect the Obama campaign has had on hitherto quite reasonable people.
Before they were pro democratic and had a favorite. Now they are pro Obama and virulently anti Clinton at all costs.

40. Responding to this quote from the OP:
"Referencing a new Gallup Poll suggesting 53 percent of Americans don't view Clinton as trustworthy", I suspect he was referring to (actually reframing in more negative terms) Clinton's unfavorable rating in most recent Gallup poll. He forgot to mention that Obama's was 49%. That's not a statistically significant difference.

43. And then it got really ugly
I hate this kind of politics but I suppose it was only a matter of time before Obama just had enough and decided to push back. Frankly you have to be using your rectum for a focusing lens to miss the fact that HRC's campaign has been saying these sorts of things about BO for several weeks now so its sauce for the goose and the gander I suppose.

The undeniable truth is that HRC's stock has a narrow trading range - low positives and high negatives. I don't see how she ever manages to inspire more than the usual crowd with her act. Maybe BO can do better - and I really don't see how questioning HRC's fitness to lead has a downside at this point.
