Barack Obama's Week that Was in pictures
It started out about Barack's ties to one good man who has lived through hell, created an 8,000-member church and done more for his community than an army of us have done for their fellow man combined. His crime: calling America on its bullshit in no uncertain terms and being overly frank about white people for their excesses.

So Barack Obama did something unusual in this day and age: he gave a speech that asked us to think. He legitimized complex human feelings and asked us to make peace with the anger and bitterness that has kept both black and white communities from reaching out to each other and forming a more perfect union.

Only Barack Obama could have given this speech. He has loved and has been loved intimately by blacks and whites alike. Rev. Wright was not disowned, and neither was Barack Obama's white grandmother. Once Barack Obama loves you, you stay loved.

The speech was an earthquake. We cried.

And we cried.

By the end of the week, support was coming from unlikely places.

And familiar faces.

Barack Obama lives another day. The kid has always known how to stay calm and happy in the face of danger.

"Obama is worth fighting for. He is worth losing old friends for. History has thrown America an unlikely lifeline. Do we have the decency, the sense, the last glimmer of sanity needed to open our hearts to change?

6. We should all have one good cry when thinking of our nation....
then we can each roll up our sleeves and get to work saving it. Obama will lead the way, because he wants what we want; to have us put our humanity on the table and to work as one.

3. I am proud to support Barack Obama.
He is a person that doesn't pretend to be perfect. Instead, he lays out what his vision of America is and asks us to help achieve that dream if we believe in it.

12. Have you posted a summary of the experience?
If not, I'd love to read all about it and I'm sure others would too. We were all woo-hooing and cheering here. It was amazing on TV; I can only imagine what it was like to be there.

22. Oh man! I'm totally jealous!!!
I saw Obama in Santa Barbara a few months ago, which was awesome, but seeing him at a more exciting event like that would have been awesome.

Austin Powers' father?

And Obama kind of like Jimi Hendrix?

27. This was a hellish week for Obama. Absolutely hellish.
But he still managed to pull through and maintain his credibility and dignity. Plus, I think he did a lot this week in easing any concerns about his toughness. You have to be tough as nails to go through the shit he has taken and not crack, even for a second.
