Nader for Senate!
Here's a Nader campaign I think we all could get behind!

...if Nader's goal is really to change the political sphere because the Democratic Party has left progressive politics behind, I have a new suggestion. In 2006, Nader should primary the most conservative elected Democratic, Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman. Nader is a Connecticut resident, and has two years to build Democratic support for his run. As with the idea of a Congressional run, this comes with an extended bully pulpit with an option for more. This one is six years.

Very interesting idea here. What do you think?

I would help Ralph out to get a senate seat in CT. Man, that is a wonderful idea!

5. huh?
Lieberman has been Bush's b*tch for the last three years! Second only to Zell Miller. And if you think Nader supports Bush you probably need to breathe deeply and listen to him. Nader might not quite be the anti-Bush, but he's a lot closer than Joe Lieberman!

7. Lieberman endorsed Kerry, Nader said there was no difference
between Kerry and bush. Nader takes republican money for his campaign. Nader has investments in multinational companies that he owns through his mutual funds. Nader SUCKS!

9. yeah but if Nader's right then Lieberman's endorsement is...
...pretty flimsy, doncha think? And anyway, Lieberman's endorsement doesn't reflect well on any candidate, IMO.

4. oh the irony! I think it's a great idea.
I'd love to see him do it. I haven't been back to the NE for many years, but it's hard to imagine that CT dems consider themselves well represented by Joe Lieberman!

10. ahhh, but as a Californian I doubt you'll ever be called upon...
...to support a Nader senate bid. On the other hand-- and stop and think before you speak-- wouldn't you love an opportunity to replace Diane Feinstein with Ralph Nader? I would!

11. No, what Nader did to this country is unforgivable
he deserves no reward for giving bush the power to destroy the environment, involve us in a pre-emptive war in Iraq, and endanger a woman's right to choose.

Because of Nader's arogence(sic), it is not a sure thing that we will get our government and press back!

F**K NADER!!!

If I sound bitter your right.

14. Nader still has millions of followers
whose natural home should be the Democratic Party. We need to unify the Left and that can only happen by compromise. The conservative wing of the Democratic Party has had too much control for too long, which encourages low voter turnout and third Parties. We should build bridges to the third Parties by adopting the acceptable portions of their policies and winning over popular members of their movements. Vindictiveness might be satisfying, but it's counter productive.

12. This is the kind of thing I've been saying for some time...

Real, substantive change starts at lower levels than President. Third parties and specific interests within parties gain their inroads into the national consciousness by participating in elections at the local, state, and congressional levels. These candidates can and do win these races.

17. Any Real Democrat Would Work Hard for Joe:
Edited on Sat May-08-04 11:13 PM by mdguss
Nader is a closet Republican. He's Zell's left-leaning twin. They both undermine the party, and they're both doing everything they can for George W. Bush.

Joe, conservative though he may be, is a real Democrat who ran against Bush/Cheney the last time, a real Democrat that has a progressive record on the environment, social issues, and taxes. Granted, he's pretty conservative when it comes to foriegn policy. But I'd support Lieberman in an instant over Ralph Nader.

I will never vote for two people: George W. Bush and Ralph Nader. One and the same in my book.

Edited on Sun May-09-04 12:07 AM by fujiyama
and Ralph. Two peas in a pod -- they both fucked up Gore's campaign. Lieberman by undercutting the campaign with the military votes and Nader by being the plain and simple worthless piece of shit he is.

I really would not vote for either of these men. They aren't democrats and they really aren't progressive or liberal either.

I'm sure when Joe is up for reelection to the senate, we can find a real democrat to run against him. CT is a pretty liberal state and can find someone better.

19. 1) He'd get his ass kicked
Connecticut is fairly democratic but Joe has a high approval rating. It's not so liberal that a large amount of dems are pissed at him like they were with Specter.

2) Dems will never forgive him for 2000.
