bottom line: Bush and Rummy's lack of leadership may lead to another 9/11 |
|
The prison abuse scandal may have much more far reaching consequences. It is likely that the humiliation of Arab men and perhaps rapes and even murder may lead to more terrorist attacks because of the outrage against Americans. Bush and Rummy must take responsibility for this--there lack of leadership at the top and the insane foreign policy of this administration of shooting first and asking questions later--of lies and deceit--of utter disregard for the viewpoints of other nations--have obviously influenced those responsible for the acts of humiliation and violence by American soldiers in Iraq. If we had a foreign policy based on cooperation and human rights I believe this wouldn't have happened. There will be consequences and I think the terrorists will be emboldened to act again and it will no doubt be aimed at innocent Americans.

1. But bush insists the war in Iraq has made us safer. |
|
He is seriously delusional. I just hope he doesn't have a temper tantrum and start lobbing nukes.

2. The junta has assured a long lucrative era for arms manufactures and |
|
dealers. They have advanced the cause of war and terror.
They have increased the danger our military personnel face daily in Iraq by backing policy which was guaranteed to foment more violence from the Iraqi people, who have thus far been pretty accommodating considering they have been invaded.
I would speculate the next 'Jessica Lynch' story will not have such a happy ending. The command even tried to lie about Ms. Lynch's treatment at the hands of her 'captors'. They tried very hard to portray those holding Jessica as menacing and brutal instead of the healing professionals they were. The next captive is likely to face a different reality. We have Rumsfeld and his patron, Dick Cheney, to thank for the mounting danger.
The rage the the prison abuse fosters will be around for a very long time. The junta in now holding the entire American population hostage through their pro-corporate imperialism and war crimes. They have made enough enemies to last several generations.
Impeach them, ship them overseas and throw them to the angry mobs in Iraq. Bring the troops home.

3. Adolf Hitler thought Germany was winning the war... |

...from his bunker when the Soviet Army was already well inside Berlin. Dubya is out of touch. This makes him and the entire administration very dangerous.

4. God help us all if we're hit again. |

First of all, it's going to be big: dirty bomb, chemical, biological. If thousands of people aren't dead or displaced, I will be pleasantly surprised.
Secondly, instead of criticizing the administration for inciting the violence which would precipitate such an act, your average American is going to rally around the flag, show undying support for our President, and smile vacuously as the government takes away even more of our rights in the name of "Homeland Security."
It also goes without saying that regardless of the fact that the perpetrators would probably be some subnational terrorist organization, Bush would find a way to blame a state: Syria, Iran, North Korea... take your pick.
And then we'd send in 200,000 troops, level an entire nation, leave its infrastructure in shambles, and kill off a lot of innocent people in the name of "freedom."
And Al Qaeda would recruit even more to their ranks.
God help us all- this administration just doesn't understand it.
