KO covering the multiple lies of Clinton coming from Snipergate!
Edited on Wed Mar-26-08 07:28 PM by TheDonkey
Wow, more and more lies.

Hillary lying about how it was sleep deprevation for the latest slip
- cut to video of 3 separate occasions of the "sniper" lies dating back to December.

Hillary lying about how "ok" she did meet with the girl but THEN ran to the vehicles
- cut to video of Hillary roaming around taking group photos and chatting after the little girls poem

11. KO is now O'Rielly in a mirror
An Obama support group gathering pretending to be high minded and no better than the far right mouths he criticizes. Used to like him and now he spends his entire show inviting on regulars who will agree with his bashings for their evening session on TV. If they hesitate on agreeing with his question which is really a diatribe he hammers them back into agreement.

16. So you had a problem with him showing:
Clinton speaking about her version of the Bosnia events, all 4 times and even from notes
Then her version where she just had to stop quickly to see the little girl and then rush away
Then showing the actual video from CBS on her stop on the tarmac

What was exactly wrong with that? That it portrayed Clinton in a negative light? Heck yeah it did, that happens when you "embellish" a story so far beyond what actually happened.

28. No problem with that...
if it was just that. He is become very partisan and loomed larger when he appeared less involved. His clear excitement over Hillary issues is obvious and his guests are selected for their ability to agree with him and allow him to vent during each question. I thought he would need medical attention when his "bigger than Watergate" passport flap broke and he sensed a chance to get off the Wright issue which was killing him (OB).

19. If this all has a ring of familiarity to it....think back to 2000
and how everyone attacked Gore, ALL THE TIME, for being a liar, particularly in the media. Margaret Carlson even said she did it because it was so much fun! It was constant. It stuck. And, as we all know, Gore would have made a way-y-y better President than Bush, even if he conflated a few of the many trips he took, and got hammered for people claiming he said he invented the Internet. My god, I had a person in a BURRITO STORE say that to me at lunch one day in 2000 because I had a Gore button on. We're all standing in line, and he says in a loud voice, "Al Gore invented the Internet"! (I politely stated, yes, he sponsored the legislation that led to making the Internet possible, and that stopped him, but he had already made his loud statement).

I am posting this link NOT because I think it's from a hotbed of fair reporting, but to show the similarities between what's being said about Hillary and what was said about Gore.

27. Do you understand the concept of a conflated memory?
I would refer you to a charming and illuminating book called "Remembering Ahanagran", which discusses the tricks memory plays on us. The author is Richard White.

Gore likewise said that he had gone to a FEMA disaster with James Lee Witt. This was later shown to be false. However, it was not a lie. He had been to FEMA events. He had toured sites with James Lee Witt. He conflated the two, and created a false memory.

This is very common. It even happens when people see movies of things (think: Reagan). Of course, he was Teflon, so it didn't matter what he said, but this syndrome is quite common. It doesn't diminish from the many risks that she took on her travels. Hell, just being First Lady is a risk.

29. There are things people don't forget or make up and one of them is sniper fire
Even the pilot on the plane says none of the stuff she's saying happened.

http://ruralvotes.com/thefield/?p=945#comments

"Retired Colonel William “Goose” Changose, who flew the C-17 that Senator Clinton claimed made evasive maneuvers flying into Tuzla, Bosnia, testifies that the senator did not tell the truth about the landing. He says Clinton’s claim of passengers being directed to sit on bulletproof vests never happened and suggests that the fantasy might have come from a scene in the movie Apocalypse Now."

I'm sorry, this is more than just a little trick memory. How does landing in a plane, visiting with tens of people, having your picture taken, shaking hands, smiling, etc turn into running with you head down for fear of snipers?

I've given Hillary a lot of leeway on many many things, but I won't on this any more. She needs to come out and apologize for grossly exaggerating her "memory" of the event.

31. She had an 11,000 page schedule.
If she remembered everything in the detail you suggest, then I would submit to you that she would probably be autistic.

If you read the book I referenced, you'll see that a number of the subjects in it also remembered violent incidents that did not occur to them (Irish troubles in the early 20th century). It's actually very common. I agree that she is remembering it wrong. However, I do not think it's a lie.

If she cannot remember her schedule and actual events clearly, then she should refer back to her schedule before making a prepared speech on it.

35. Oh for God's sake. I am trying to have a civilized conversation.
I really think you should read the book I referenced. It's actually not as uncommon as you might think.

Here's a blurb:

"Remembering Ahanagran is a remarkable book that defies easy categorization. Part biography, part autobiography, part "revisionist" account, part loving narrative, it deals with the complicated relationship between history and memory. Richard White's story is simultaneously about immigration, about becoming an American, and about the myths we embrace to make sense of ourselves. It is about rural Ireland, 20th-century Chicago, and territory that exists only in the mind."

Now, *I* might be remembering wrong, but I believe that there is a section dealing with a community member who belonged to the IRA being killed, and people who had not been there remembering that they'd witnessed it (I actually don't think I have this quite right, but if you look at the book you will see what I'm describing). This really, really is not that unusual.

False memory, yes. Lie, no.

It also makes sense that Clinton, with her hefty travel schedule, would be less likely to single out a particular event than those who accompanied her, to whom the event would have been much more significant.

You don't have to believe me and I suspect you won't, but it's really not that unusual.

36. Fine, I'll go with it, it's a false memory
But, once the media took hold of this story, she shouldn't have then continued on with her version that she could only stop for a moment with the little girl then run off to her vehicle.

She has plenty of fact checkers on her staff, she should have had someone, even if it wasn't her, look into this before she continued on with her false memory.

If she is conflating memories of 2 different events, it follows that these events actually occurred.

So when exactly DID she duck this sniper fire and run around in her flak jacket fearing for her life, if not this time in Bosnia????

42. Conflated memory?
To take your explanation, and apply to Hillary's statements about the sniper fire....were there any other appearances she had that had dangerous sniper fire, that they could bde conflated?

Give it a rest. I don't know which is the most bizarro....Hillary telling a totally unnecessary lie (un forced error) or her Herd trying to justify it....

One of the reasons to be truthful is that, apart from being more moral, it is more simple. If you lie, you have to remember all the lies you said to which people, etc. And you have to go into the bullshit if you are caught to make excuses for it. Much simpler to just be honest.

I think everyone is capable of lying. What is significant about Hillary's lie is that it was just plain stupid. How could she have beleived she would not get caught? Mr Gore may not have invented the internet, but someone in Hillary's enterage must have informed her of youtube....
