Something funny about the Clinton Camp hinted at 180 turn... |
|
Edited on Thu Mar-27-08 05:55 PM by Skwmom
Clinton didn't attack Obama today. Harold Ford, the Clinton hack says that Gore will broker a deal. Since when have the Clintons listened to Gore? Carville says he's leaving D.C.
Are they hinting that they are throwing in the towel in order to get the SuperDelegate Convention? Now Ford is saying let the superdelegates get together and vote out in the open. They would vote out in the open at the convention. So what's the spin, we gave it to Clinton but we did it out in the open so it wasn't stolen.
Something just doesn't seem quite right. They are not throwing in the towel but I think they are trying to mislead people into thinking that is what they are doing so they let down their guard.

There's not much question that he had to take a back seat to Hillary in the Clinton years. She had better offices in the Executive Office Building and, in the perquisties-sensitive Washington, claimed a higher spot on the totem pole for eight years. The Clintons did virtually nothing to assist his campaign in 2000.
I don't know if it's a matter of them being willing to listen ... he's gained enough clout that they may have no choice.
Insofar as the "superdelegates" ... it's a TERRIBLE "feature" - specifically designed to overrule "populism" with "establishment" politics. However ...
There are, the last I saw, about 320 superdelegates who're (offically) "undecided." I would regard any stampede by THEM toward the candidate with less popular votes, less states, and less selected delegates to be noxiously suspicious at the very least. Are we really so naive to think that many "undecided" superdelegates are 'convinced' by the primary process - to go with the LOSING candidate?? I'd call bullshit on that in a nanosecond.
It makes me glad that I'm an independent - disgusted by partisan politics so absent ideological principles.

Odd timing, don't you think?
That's fascinating about the Gore thing -- "broker". Hmmmm.

17. Yeah, why would Harold Ford say that Gore would broker a deal? Unless they are trying |
|
to get everyone to agree to a superdelegate caucus and then renege on letting Gore oversee it. I'm convinced they are up to no good.

8. What's wrong with following the rules?? |
|
We don't need no stinking superdelegate convention and haven't needed one for the last 232 years. Sorry Hillary, there is no need to change the rules just for you. Either win it fair and square or go the fuck home.

9. Harold Ford just said there will, in fact, be a primary for SDs in JUNE |
|
Edited on Thu Mar-27-08 06:09 PM by jenmito
(I'm ALMOST certain) and there will be an open vote and someone will get 2025 delegates.

15. Even if Clinton could win NC, how would that make her the nominee? |
|
She would still be behind in pledged delegates. They've said the same thing about other states just to justify dragging out the process.

12. Why does there need to be superdelegate primary/caucus? There is NO SUCH THING. |
|
I think the Clintons want to steal it in June so they'll have five months to trash McCain and try to unite the party. I think Clinton is threatening a convention fight to get her early superdelegate primary/caucus. They will try to spin it as a superdelegate primary/caucus that was held out in the open.
Once the superdelegates are at the convention the Clintons can pressure them like a used car salesmen.

16. I know, but I heard it reported that Obama thought it was a good idea... |
|
And I bet the SDs WILL go for Obama. They both will give a speech to make their cases and then the SDs will vote. MY guess is they will vote along with the will of the people which is why Obama's ok with it.

The Clintons know they can't go to the convention and end up uniting the party and delivering a win for Clinton in Nov. So they are desperate to do it in June. Plus, if they don't win they will have around the clock coverage showing women demonstrations, speeches, etc. to divide the party and deliver the general election to McCain. Then it's on to 2012.
I find that too often people will project their own morals and values onto others which is something you never should do. Just because they would be willing to act decent if the shoe was on the other foot doesn't mean they should think the same of their opponent (the Clintons). The Clintons are ruthless.

Do you know who makes the final decision if it will happen?
This is fascinating, I wonder if this has happened previously.

24. She is thinking of the convention. |
|
What I think Hillary's fight is based on is having MI and FL seated - if they are not that is - and her argument seems to be that the DNC is on record against seating MI and FL delegations for 3 months before the GE.Those are her words in Greta's interview.
And what I see happening is that she is going to say they had 3 months to have a re vote or whatever up to 3 months before the GE and since they had all that time and did nothing to seat them then "they should be seated on those grounds"
AND that is what they want we the people to see in public.
Yet I didn't she her make any compromise over this whole issue. I saw Obama compromise on fairness and she wants things that are not fair.
