Are Edwards & Gore afraid to endorse Obama? |
|
Let's face it, Dodd and Richardson had to have big balls to call Hillary and tell her they were endorsing Obama. You may laugh but I'm telling you, these guys may be afraid of her wrath and you know she would rip them up one side and down another making for a very unpleasant call. I would just say fuck it and do it without even telling her.

1. I think Edwards is afraid he'll miss out on a job - and Gore wants to... |
|
...remain neutral as long as possible in case this goes to the Convention.

2. Perhaps they are waiting for more separation so they can avoid ... |
|
... sounding too hasty and avoid pissing off the clintons. Honestly I wish they would announce something one way or another. I think it's called leadership.

6. "avoid pissing off the Clintons" is telling though |
|
everyone is afraid of them and you can see why, every time Hillary speaks it's with pure disdain and viciousness.

3. More likely they have some good reason for not doing so. |
|
They may even think he's not a good choice.

5. No, they're waiting for the right time |
|
If they had endorsed already, it wouldn't really make a difference. But if they endorse together with other superdelegates after North Carolina, it will effectively end the contest.

7. I think Gore is keeping open the option of running for Prez in the future and does not want |
|
to alienate either side's voters. By voting at the end, he can play it safe.

17. Watching him play it safe at this point reminds me of why he ran so |
|
poorly in 2000 that Bush was able to steal the election. You can lead or you can play it safe.

9. Kerry and Kennedy led the way - knowing she was then up by 27% in their state |
|
That took more courage - especially as Kerry is up for re-election.

But what does that say about Gore and Edwards? (Two of my favorites, by the way.)

|
I don't know if Obama could have turned it around without his endorsement, and Kennedy's a week later.

11. Folks, it is possible that Gore and/or Edwards don't like either Obama or Clinton. |
|
If so, they may want to keep their options open at the convention.
Maybe they're both concerned with the country and the party.
Somebody's going to have to pick up the pieces of each, I'm afraid.
And I'd like to have folks like Gore and Edwards to do it.

18. Now that would be laughable except |
|
that there may be some truth to it (though not via your interpretation).
The wise move is to see how this plays out. Obama has just barely begun to feel the media scrutiny and who knows what that might bring?
Could easily result in his candidacy being untenable. In that event, it wouldn't be very bright to have endorsed him when there was still a chance to change course at the convention.
And that DOES NOT mean choosing Hillary, who may well be equally untenable.

21. 2 reasons they are not endorsing anyone |
|
1. They don't want to alienate HRC supporters (& financiers) by seeming to decide the race too early and forcing her exit. They will be called sexist, elitist, disenfranchising millions blah, blah, blah.
2. They cannot endorse HRC and alienate millions more.
So they are stuck for the time being till a few more primaries go by.
