Supporters of ALL candidates: sign the ABC petition.
We saw during the last debate how the media and ABC in particular want to marginalize some of our candidates and cover only those THEY select.

It is important that we make the media serve the public interest by informing the electorate about the positions of ALL candidates.

Who knows? Your candidate might be the next one being ignored. Why should THE MEDIA "select" our candidate by its coverage/non-coverage?

Petition on DK's website: http://www.kucinich.us
Click on "Sign ABC Petition" on the right-hand side.

Isn't this an issue ALL Democrats can agree on?

Post here after you have signed (to keep the thread on the front page,) and if someone can put part of the petition or all of it in this thread, that would be helpful.

TIME TO TAKE BACK THE MEDIA. This is a great first step. I hope public outrage over this will resonate in their boardroom and in the boardrooms of media across the nation.

2. I may not support Congressman K, BUTT
This bit by ABC to try and influence the nomination is B.S. Something the Wingnuts would do, so I signed the petition.

He may not have a snowball's chance of getting the nomination as of now, but nonethless he is a good man.

When I saw the thread title I saw: Anybody But Clark!

Signed.

To ABC News President David Westin and Political Director Mark Halperin:

We the undersigned believe you are doing a disservice to the people of this country, biasing and trivializing your coverage of the presidential election campaign.

We ask that you provide fair coverage to each of the nine Democratic Presidential candidates, and that you make an effort to inform people what it would mean to them for each of these candidates to become president. We ask that you provide this public service over the airwaves that belong to us, the people, and we promise to watch your programming if you do so.

Specifically, we the people ask that you reinstate the fulltime embedded reporters with the campaigns of Congressman Dennis Kucinich, Rev. Al Sharpton, and Ambassador Moseley-Braun, that you make use of their reporting in your broadcasting and on your website, and that you focus that reporting on policy positions in order to inform us what it would mean to have each of them as president.

The day after Presidential Candidate Dennis Kucinich took your debate moderator Ted Koppel to task for avoiding questions that would be useful to us as voters in favor of questions about endorsements, money, and polls, you pulled your fulltime "embedded" reporter from the Kucinich campaign and from Sharpton's and Moseley-Braun's. Your Kucinich reporter had been given no warning that such a move was coming and had discussed at length the day before with the Kucinich campaign staff her plans and her needs for the coming months.

11. These petitions are a complete waste of time
Do any of you really think that a huge company like ABC is going to care about some silly petition on a liberal website? Believe me, they'll just laugh at you.

13. Why does it exclude LaRouche ?
I consider him a dangerous wacko, but he DID get more money in matching funds than DK. Why is he excluded ? Just because he's a nut ?

Did this a while ago, but I need to remind my friends and family to if they haven't already. :)

It makes me so angry that the media characterizes Kucinich not by relating his policy stands, but by marginalizing him. It seems to me that if the ABC's of the world were serving as the guardians of democracy they are supposed to, that more people would have heard 'end free trade agreements and fund universal healthcare', than 'single vegan looking to meet chicks'.

Also, the mainstream media makes nearly NO effort to distinguish the differences between Kucinich's stances and other candidates' stances. To most in the public, the other candidates' 'almost universal insurance' is allowed to remain virtually indistinguishable from 'universal health care'. Also also, no mainstream media source will bother to tell people that as long as taxpayer-subsidized insurance is allowed to keep skimming funds that should go to treat the sick and injured, people will go without good health care.

Along those same lines, to most in the public, the media's refusal to describe the truth about free trade (that it's investor protection, not 'good for our economy'; that it can't be reformed meaningfully; etc.) results in many people who feel strongly about that issue being unaware of the details and likely to vote against their own interests.

Jefferson said he'd rather have a free press than a government. I'm sure he meant it. Look what wonderful things having a corporate-owned media has helped us to accomplish.
