Yo, Clark and Edwards Folks |
|
Get over it. Seriously. All of the yammering here about who would be a better VP is completely meaningless, since the only person who will decide the VP is John Kerry. And I kinda doubt he reads DU.
I loved Clark. I didn't care too much for Edwards. But you know what? Either one of them would make a great VP, and each of them has his pluses and minuses.
The primaries are over, and John Kerry is our standard bearer. Let him choose his own damn VP. The only thing that arguing over which of Clark or Edwards would make a better VP accomplishes is to create destructive divisiveness and the impression that the arguers just cannot get over the primaries.
Move on. Please.

1. So long as there are people who say they don't care too much for Edwards |
|
I feel compelled to balance it with an argument for why I care so much for Edwards.

You prove my point.
I love Edwards, OK? I worship the ground he walks on. I will kiss his feet if he is VP. He is the greatest politician and lawyer who ever lived.
Christ.

I see you prominently featured. If that's what you want to spend your time on, knock yourself out. I just think the whole exercise has gotten pretty ridiculous. Obviously, YMMV.

I don't want to Ignore you, AP, because I actually think you have some good things to say. I am just venting because a lot of people who I like and respect -- and who, IMO, should know better -- are still acting like it's a food fight in the primaries.

But go right ahead, talk yourself blue in the face. Arguing over the same stupid thing over and over again seems pretty pointless to me, though.

Or alert on them. Or whatever.

I guess I just got sick of it after a while, and I know I'm not alone.
But if people still want to act like the primaries are still going on, and cling to their bitterness, hey, they can knock themselves out.

11. i don't think it's just about hoping it will influence kerry's decision |

i don't think it's just about people hoping it will influence kerry's decision. but more about defending and speaking out in support of the candidate they support. once kerry makes his final choice and even if it's not clark or edwards you will probably still see a bit of this pop up every now and then.

Everyone's getting all riled up, and over what?
I guess I just don't get it. People are obviously free to do what they want, but I just don't see how it's productive or constructive in any way.

13. I seem to be seeing more agreement that either one would be fine as VP... |
|
Certainly it's okay to discuss the matter while we wait for an actual name to be announced.
Once that's done -- and I suspect it will come later this month or in early June, as the Democratic fundraising mechanism can use another candidate's voice -- all these threads will quiet down.

14. It just shows how much energy |
|
this campaign is creating. People are passionate and involved in this election because there's so much at stake.
Kerry will probably pick somebody completely different than what everyone expects and we'll all be surprised.

15. Don't forget about Chris Heinz! |
|
He's a DU member. During the primaries he was here all the time. I'm sure they got a LOT of info/fodder for the campaign from us. If he's still a visiting member, he'll let it be known that Clark is the "preferred" VP on DU. Right? :7
Go Wes!

16. actually, based on the primary |
|
i think he knows not to make decisions based on what du wants as kerry would have lost every time.
but taking away that part, i do think wes clark would make a very good vp. i think the same about john edwards and many others.

I remember one night on Hardball after the debate where Peter Jennings brought up the Michael Moore awol remark....that week was a week of endless anti Clark posts on DU. SOA/Stephens Group....and THAT night a Kerry representative was on Hardball following the debate and brought up those issues (SOA and Stephens Group). I STILL believe they got the info from DU. At any given time there was 3-4 threads on the subjects. Rush Limbaugh gets fodder from here too. It's not unheard of.

Until the point when there are lying Clark attacks in those threads. If it weren't for those, I wouldn't make a peep. I'm in favor of Kerry choosing his own VP for his own reasons; however, I will never permit Wes Clark being denigrated as a possible choice.
