People tend to confuse libertarianism (small l) the political philosophy with the big-L Libertarian PARTY. They are NOT the same thing.

An overwhelming majority of DU, for instance, as indicated by several polls on the matter, identifies as left-libertarian. That does not mean, however, that we (I am certainly one of 'em) support the Libertarian Party.

I'm left-libertarian, and I'm a Democrat. I think our party should move in the direction of protecting rights and freedoms for individuals, particularly pertaining to consenting adult behaviors that don't harm or endanger anyone else, individual control over their own bodies, restoring the bill of rights, etc.
