Would Barbara Boxer be interested in being VP? Any ideas? |
|
Boxer has impressed me for years with her ability to get straight to the heart of important matters. She does not come across as being divisive (but I only "know" her through C-SPAN broadcasts).
So, what do you think? Any interest on her part?? Or do we need her more in the Senate?

1. Hopefully. She would make an excellent VP and candidate. |
|
I think Obama should consider one of the following people for VP.
1. Russ Feingold
2. Janet Napolitano
3. Kathleen Sebelius
4. Barbara Boxer
5. Wesley Clark

7. Clark has been too much an attack dog against Obama to be considered |
|
In my opinion, of course... but the big story for days or weeks would include soundbites from Clark attacking Obama's credentials.

I find it hilarious that previously your argument against Sebelius was that no one could pronounce her name.
I don't think people who get hung up on a trivial thing like names are going to vote for someone named Obama in the first place.
So I'll take your post with several canisters of salt.

21. No, no one knows WHO the hell she is. It's not just her NAME, it's her FACE and her |
|
REPUTATION--she doesn't HAVE a national persona. It wouldn't matter if she was Methuselah's grandma, no one, save her state and her immediate neighbors, has any clue who the hell she is.
In a truncated GE, you don't want to spend half your time selling your running mate and explaining who the fuck she is.
So, go on, use all the salt you want, there 'Ed Rollins'--who really gives a shit, save you?

26. Just because you don't know who she is doesn't mean you need to project that on everyone else. |
|
"In a truncated GE, you don't want to spend half your time selling your running mate and explaining who the fuck she is."
That's the running mate's job, just as it's every candidate's job to explain their qualifications.
"who really gives a shit"
Well, you've got a point. No one really gives a shit about your opinions. They're mostly based on ignorance anyway. Later!

36. I am not "projecting." Most people have no fucking idea who she is. |
|
Too bad if that doesn't fit your worldview, but it is true. And all the snark in your little world won't change that fact.
Oh, it's YOUR ignorant opinions that I don't particularly give a shit about, but amuse yourself..."LATER!!!!"

16. I believe Boxer is related to those terrible Clintons, sorry I guess |
|
your opinion of her will go down now, and I don't think Clark would want to associate with BO either, I hope not he's to good a man. I hope to GOD BO doesn't make it. I have yet to read anything positive about him or his wife except fluff. Her thesis was absolutely disgusting, again bringing up race. Her remark about America, probably been drilled into her by Wright. Then BO himself has never done anything except prance around with his nose in the air and shout change. Articles are starting to come out now showing his true colors. Maybe the gloves are coming off.

35. I LOVE Barbara Boxer. She's my Senator and she's so great she ALMOST makes up for |
|
the "cave-woman" dianne feinstein.
But I would hesitate to pull another Democrat out of the Senate. We just barely have a majority, and there's no way of knowing how much we'd be able to reinforce that in November. Besides, Der Gropenator is a republi-CON and I'd hate to think who he might want to appoint to take her place (not completely sure that's the system out here, though, but you have to chess-game this kind of thing out a little). We will be taking ONE Democrat out of the Senate, as is. Barbara would serve elegantly as Vice President, but I'd hate to see her leave. We need her in there. But then again, we'd need her WHEREVER she wound up.

5. Just my opinion, but anyone who is a Senator should be ruled out |
|
Unless they also have experience as governor and/or military leader.
Bill Clinton tapped Senator Al Gore, but Clinton was a governor. I think Obama needs to pick a governor...

I don't care who the VP is, I just want Obama to get into office. Even Richardson might be too risky (although I really like him).

19. Would you really want a turncoat on the ticket? You know Bill |
|
appointed him to a couple of jobs. Has told him 5 times he would never back BO, then stabbed him in the back. Do you think he would have any reservations about turning on someone else you has done even less for him? If it wasn't for Bill C no one would even know who Richardson is.

And that it was the negative, nasty tone of her campaign that turned him off, right?
Something tells me you have chosen to be unaware of these facts.

gaining a majority in the Senate, we can't afford to steal anyone else! No m atter who our candidate is, it's one loss toward the Senate majority already! A Governor, Bill Moyers, or Dan Rather for that matter...but leave the Seante alone!

Senators like Feingold and Boxer are far more valuable where they are than they would be as vice president.
And, really, would you want Schwarzenegger appointing Boxer's successor?

|
On a personal level, I'd love to see her as VP (or Prez!), but as others have mentioned, we need her in the Senate. Plus, from a political perspective, not sure how many votes she could "bring" to the ticket. There's always so much more that goes into choosing a running mate than just picking the person who would be best. Unfortunately.

Her daughter married Tony Rodham. I believe they're divorced now.
