If I remember correctly, she read her poetry to them and her stories, and the two of them helped Maya find a publisher.

I believe it was in the NYTimes about a year ago. In it, a couple is rapturously dancing and the heading is "OBAMA! We just met a man called Obama!" a la "Maria" from WEst Side Story.
Very funny.

He has a good eye for the absurd. I thinkthe cartoon was more telling about New York elites and their "fads" than about Obama himself. NYC liberals getting all ecstatic and giddy about the new political face...
